If we can’t afford to sign Sesko and keep Isak from a PSR perspective then we are in a really tricky position. We can’t afford the risk of selling Isak before we have a replacement in. But if we sign Sesko and need to sell Isak then we are open (as Downie says) to Liverpool possibly even lowering their offer. Catch 22 unless we can afford to keep both.

Pretty sure we can afford to keep both. We had a healthy balance pre sales this summer and with three year accounting period selling Isak or a.n.other next summer should see us right.

What he said does make sense if we cannot afford to keep Sesko and Isak and therefore need to sell Isak to Liverpool. They would know this and could even lower their offer.

I think because of the 3 year rolling PSR thing there's very little difference to us selling him now vs next season. My understanding is that we could theoretically spend a good wedge of what we'd expect to receive next summer now and providing we get it that's fine.

Yea, assuming he get's sold this league year I guess.

Knowing we’re certainly going to sell Isak next year means we can overspend this year and gamble a little. In fact it’s sensible to do so.

Its sort of a safety net. We should go at our max, and try to go as far as we can in the CL. A lot of money to make there. Also sold Longstaff.

Craig Hope suggests we are very much still interested in Wissa & Šeško

He has totally contradicted himself to what he wrote yesterday to when he said Liverpool have walked away.  Sum of the story - he ain't got a clue !!

In fairness all the journalists have even Ornstein. It’s obvious Liverpool briefed they were walking away and they’ve obviously briefed the opposition today

It would make more sense to overspend now and recoup our losses by selling Isak next summer if he's intent on leaving because once that money hits the bank everyone will want more off us, so use it now without the Isak tax.

Just watched Downies video on Youtube

He says if we sign Sesko we'll have to go back to Liverpool and say "look is there any chance you could give us a little bit more", but Liverpool are in a position of strength so we might have to sell for just 110 if they say no.

What the fuck is he going on about?  I'll be fucking fuming if it all plays out anything like that [emoji38]

He's been necking cowies. Ignore him.

The only way he can leave this summer is we got the replacement AND the fee is so high that everyone will recognise Newcastle as the winner of the saga, like 160M +. PIF won’t allow us to be a loser
