Ornstein not having a clue/going with the flow part #2, from 1 month ago:

But isn't Ornstein one of those now reporting (despite what he's said above) he's known Isak has been unhappy for a year....?

Yes he’s a paid shill  Blows with the wind now. Full of wind. His rep is in tatters. Wankstain.

I'm generally with you on the wider point, but it's not just because he wants to go to Liverpool. That's bad enough but it's about the disrespect he's shown this summer and tarnishing his legacy. It's hardly a mystery why people are upset by that...

Yep, could be going about his business as usual, training and playing this weekend as talks happen. One bid rejected, continue, then plays opening league game, scores in a win, Liverpool come in for £150m, Howe pulls him from squad for that game and he’s sold. Everyone would be content.

You're right, but it's the way he's handled it that's rubbed people up the wrong way. You can get a move without going on strike - the buying club just have to make a suitable offer. He's fucked us over by trying to drive down his valuation.

I don't agree with the assesment that he's derailed our transfer activity and pre season preparation though, the club should still have been able to manage the transfer window while also managing a single disgruntled player.

You don’t think an out of the blue request to explore transfer options for our best player has altered / changed our recruitment at the last moment ?

Providing a suitable replacement had already been signed.

Fair enough, I don't think it needed to happen like this. I think he didn't want to go on a meaningless pre-season tour, and the club agreed to a mutually beneficial lie whilst they got the ducks in a row to get him sold and a replacement in. I think if that all happened we'd all be relatively fine with it.

The real issue is how the club have absolutely fucked it with the succession of failed bids. Is that Isak's fault? Does that make him more of a cunt? I don't know if that's in his control, really.

It's mostly looking loads worse because it's all played out over fucking Romano's feed. In the past he'd have been injured, some paper talk, we'd have signed Ekitike and he'd have gone to Liverpool with our blessings. Liverpool, Romano and NUFC have come together to make us look like mugs IMO. I understand we all hate looking like mugs but not sure how much Isak is to blame. I don't really hate him for it, think current transfer culture and Liverpool trying to play us for fools (lowball bids, buying our targets) is more to blame.

Think Eddie doesn’t want a media circus around “the group” and won’t let him play weather he’s  injured or not.

That's exactly how it should be. Imagine everything was up front from the off. He trains normally and signs off with a goal against Villa. I'd be gutted but I wouldn't feel as ill toward him as I currently do. All my mates think the same too.

They really haven't.

They get their man and we get weakened, or they don't but they've weakened us anyway because everybody hates the bloke who pretty much put us where we were last season. They got Ekitike anyway. I'm not for one second saying that I approve of the way they've gone about this, but they come out of it ok whatever happens like

It might be a meaning less pre-season tour but the rest of the squad went and got about the business correctly. Why should he be any different.

Ornstein appears firmly embedded in FSG’s client journalist pool. He’s been getting briefed heavily from their side.

True, true. Think he reckoned he's on the brink of a life changing transfer and didn't want to get injured playing the K-League all stars. It's shite but the club agreed to the lie that he was injured and have clearly agreed he'd be sold for mega cash.

Liverpool then don't bid mega cash and Romano starts his leaks and then Isak starts looking the cunt. I think it looks awful but I'm not sure it was really in his control once he decided to try and get the transfer. His agent will be in his ear telling him this is how it works now (which it is) but yes, he never should have skipped the tour.

142,000,000 they sold Coutinho for in 2018. Isak should be insulted.

We should quote this exact price with add ons that are equal to the inflation from then to now.

Fuck em

I’m not sure it was meaningless to the club that pays him 120k a week. It shouldn’t have been his decision as to whether he went or not.

Isak is to blame because his behaviour since Celtic has been that of a prat. Don’t think it is that easy to upset Eddie’s Howe if you put the effort in and act properly which is a minimum requirement. He seems the sort to have your back if you do that - probably part of what makes him such a good manager.

Played like a fiddle on incoming transfers is totally correct. That's what happens when you back the manager, get rid of a sporting director before the window even starts and then allow two totally unqualified scouts to deal with incoming transfers. Not rocket science

Agree with all of that, but you also seem to be of the opinion that either Isak will still  be here, or we will have two replacements of the "required standard" instead. I put it to you that neither of these two scenarios will happen. Unless of course you think that Jackson and Wissa will meet the "required standard" litmus test for replacing Isak. In which case, there's nothing more I can say to you. [emoji38]

Seems reasonable but perhaps with a ‘prat tax’ added. Say 14,422,013.70 - just to make a nice round number for the bin dippers.

He’s not expected to train with the team until the transfer window has ended; if he’s still here by then.

Sounds like he’s still acting the prick and Eddie has separated him from the group.  What a shit show.

I say this because I'm as much a sucker as anyone for getting attached to players. On a run the other day I went past that shop in Shields that Isak brings the dog out of and it made me just feel really sad.

I think the other clubs (and the fans of those clubs) we are now competing with take a much more pragmatic approach to the players now (Chelsea fans can't exactly get attached to the players) and we need to learn it too. I think that's unfortunate tbh but that's the modern game.

Just on this player attachment thing. I think players have wised up quite a bit over the last few years in how they conduct themselves.

For every Bruno and Joelinton (who are fairly open with their appreciation of the club/area/fans) you've got a Botman, Tino or Isak.

Even Tonali pleaded the fifth when asked whether he preferred the San Siro or SJP last week. Historically, says ten years ago, I think the player would've played the popularity card nine times out of ten.

I do feel we've got plenty of players who are very obviously going through the motions of doing their best for their current employer before moving on to their next (they'll hope, better paying..).

Perhaps it's just me being cynical or getting older and seeing it for what it actually is but it would be nice to have a few players who are 'all in' old school style.

That's probably impossible though given its very much a two way street and clubs will happily pump off players who'd sign their lives away to stay local - see the Longstaffs and Elliott Anderson for recent examples.

Bruno via someone I know, who speaks fairly regularly with Bruno. My take is that Isak is still pushing hard for the move and fuck everyone else.

Then we should start fining him until he makes himself available to play.

Don’t believe he’s been given a choice which would tie in with what Howe said about earning the right.

Yep, it’s why we need to invest and reap the maximum from local football. Doesn’t mean as much when local lads aren’t in the team, to me anyway.

So this is equal parts him being a dick and Eddie laying down the law?
