SUPERTOON
Seems quite unlikely that Edwards is correct, considering we have spent the last month or so trying to get a replacement in. Unless of course having failed to do so, we have told him he isn’t going.
jack j
Can get 2/1 on him signing for Liverpool on 365 now Bare in mind he has been anything between 1/5 and 1/3 the last few weeks

Pay up or shut up. It’s not a charity. Everyone knows that they won’t pay around 150m, that’s why they’ve tried the ugly way. I don't think anyone said sell him for below his true value like. Just want him gone from the squad. For full price £150 million at least though.
Moose
A few weeks ago, the prospect of that Edwards article being true would've been music to my ears. But too much water has gone under the bridge now, I want the cunt gone, I don't care who, if anyone replaces him, he absolutelycan not play for us ever again, I'm fucking done with him. I love our players, because they have heart and they leave absolutely everything out on the pitch, Isak is never going to be willing to do that and if the reports are true that the players are pissed off at him and aren't welcoming him back into the fold, that's good enough for me. FWIW, that Edwards article is likely smoke and mirrors, the club are probably using him to send a message to the dippers and their client journos
Fak
14 minutes ago, Fak said: Sounds like PIF have blocked the move and left it to Howe to act as the peace maker. Quote Alexander Isak has been told by the Newcastle United board he is not for sale this summer and will not be allowed to join Liverpool in a show of defiance from the club’s Saudi owners. Newcastle’s steadfast position on the matter has caused acrimony and tension, with Isak refusing to accept the decision with good grace. He has subsequently been ordered by manager Eddie Howe to train away from the group. Until Isak is willing to get his head around the fact that he will be denied a move in this transfer window, he will not play for the club. It is a high-risk approach from the Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which owns Newcastle, but its position, as revealed by Telegraph Sport last month, has always been the same. Liverpool were made aware of Newcastle’s refusal to consider a sale when they had a bid worth around £110m rejected last week, hence their decision to back away from the transfer. Liverpool have indicated they will not bid again unless Newcastle change their position which sources have reaffirmed to Telegraph Sport is extremely unlikely, even if they sign another striker. Howe has been aware of the club’s stance for some time and has been left to try and smooth things over with the Sweden international, which is proving difficult and is severely testing his patience. Speaking after his side’s 2-2 friendly draw with Espanyol at St James’ Park on Friday night, Howe said it was “clear” that he “can’t involve” Isak as things stand. The striker informed the club while they were on the way out to Singapore for a pre-season tour that he wanted to explore his options for a move. Isak missed the tour of Asia with a “minor thigh injury”, but went on to train alone at former club Real Sociedad without Newcastle’s permission. Howe had previously warned no player could expect to act “poorly and train with the group as normal.” He has not closed the door on Isak - who is training alone after the rest of the squad have left the building - playing for Newcastle again, but stressed that the situation “has to be right for that to happen”. “We’ve had discussions and it’s clear at the moment that we can’t involve him with the group,” Howe added. “I don’t know how long that will be for, but that’s the latest. “I’d want Alex to be playing today, I’d want him training tomorrow. We would love the player to be with us.”Let me make that absolutely clear. There’s no part of me that doesn’t want that outcome, but I don’t see the current situation changing for Aston Villa.” Newcastle, though, have resisted the temptation to discipline the player, which is a key move as they intend to reintegrate the 25-year-old gradually when he realises he cannot force his way out of the club. Isak has three years left on his current contract and has been told a new deal will be negotiated - almost certainly with a release clause - when the transfer window shuts in September. They know there is no point in trying to agree to a wage increase at the moment when emotions are running high. The player’s representatives have infuriated the Newcastle hierarchy and believe the player has been badly advised. Multiple sources have strenuously denied there was a gentleman’s agreement in place for Isak to leave this summer and at no stage where they informed last season that the player intended it to be his last on Tyneside. There is also anger at the way Liverpool have behaved and there was bafflement when their bid last week was made given it was nowhere near Newcastle’s valuation of £150m. Despite trying to sign several forward players this summer, none of them have been seen as a direct replacement for Isak. Newcastle’s refusal to sell has universal backing at boardroom level with co-owner Jamie Reuben also belligerent in the face of a naked attempt by a player to force his way out of the club and the apparent attempts to unsettle him. Whether Liverpool are willing to accept defeat remains to be seen. Given Isak’s state of mind, they may still feel the door is ajar for a British record bid to test the club’s resolve. The transfer window does not shut until September 1, which is a potentially excruciatingly long time for this standoff to continue. Howe chose his words carefully when speaking to the media on Friday night and will give Isak the time and space he needs to accept the club’s decision. But Newcastle clearly have an unhappy player on their hands and will be without their leading goalscorer for the start of the Premier League campaign. Newcastle supporters, who once idolised Isak, are understandably furious with the player and are dismayed by his conduct. Nevertheless, Newcastle’s board believe the player can be reintegrated and will go on to have a successful season at the club.

He didn't make it in Germany and almost failed to live up to his potential after going to Real Sociadad. We took a chance. Last season watching the games and now proof he fakes injury, he totally turns off for matches and doesn't appear to have a good relationship with eg Gordon. If Eddie indicates the group has a problem with him and seeing his strike - Isak might have serious character flaws. Makes me want to cash out now much more That's a bit harsh. He left Dortmund at the age of 18/19, and then scored 13 in 16 games in the Eredivisie before going to Real Sociedad.

People are angry... so they want the club to accept 70 cents on the dollar, give him everything he wants and prove to the "big clubs" that when it comes time for them to make a play for Bruno, Livramento, Tonali etc they just need to cause a stink via Twitter and we'll roll over like obedient little dogs? I'm all for selling him now, but not for something that isn't a price that will stay at the top of the all time transfer list on Wikipedia for a long time. Stottie
Nice move from the club. The only "card" that matters is Isak's contract. Liverpool are unlikely to win the league without adding a top striker. It's them who are desperate, not us. We only need to clear our PSR accounts by next June 30. We have multiple sellable assets to achieve that, were we to buy an Isak replacement and keep Isak due to the player refusing high bidders and Liverpool lowballing. Since our Wilson replacement, Wissa, can easily start, we can buy a development player as an Isak replacement. And not play Isak or play him if he eats humble pie. The club have played this well, and nowhere near as ineptly as was widely suggested.
Stottie
fwiw, I would take 100M plus Harvey Eliott with no addons or sellons. Headline/PSR prices of 150M one way 50 the other. The previous U21 player of the tournament has done great for us.
Displayname
Thats a bullshit article tbh. I could see them having that stance now after failing to find a replacement, but to claim that it has always been their stance and nothing has changed? No way we were planning to keep Isak if we had gotten Sesko. Just doesn't make any sense spending that kind of money on a backup striker when the rest of our squad need so much upgrading.
