Whilst it doesn’t particularly help us in our stance I don’t have an issue with fans singing stuff, however I do agree that whilst its probably just semantics that ‘one greedy bastard’ doesn’t make sense in this regard.

It seems to be the default song our fans sing about someone who leaves or doesn’t sign for us even if it doesn’t exactly make sense. I remember our fans singing it at Maddison against Spurs at SJP when we done them 4-0, despite us not even bidding for him in summer 2023 when he did go to Spurs.

Similar issues with the song book in general, make a new song that calls him a cunt or something.

Greedy - wanting more than needed.

He is underpaid. A player of his quality does warrant to be the highest paid at the club at least. I also don’t have an issue with being able to challenge for the big trophies as reason to want to leave.

The reason why he’s a total wanker is him spitting in the face of his manager, teammates and fans by refusing to play and train. Seeing himself as more important than those people and this football club. By doing so he is costing us points as seen yesterday. That’s not greed, it’s just being an utter fucking cunt.

Well I think he’s an utter fucking cunt as well so we agree on the important bit ….. and because I am a proper socialist and not one of these new ones who all seem to think that socialism is capitalism without the bad bits …… I also think he’s greedy because he wants more than he needs.

Something I haven't seen mentioned and something I found somewhat interesting....

Eddie mentioned needing this situation sorting ASAP and at first I thought he might be referring to the powers that be selling Isak...

However im sure in his press conference he mentioned wanting a decision from the player himself...

Isn't that a completely different change in narrative? What does Isak need to decide? Hes already decided hasn't he? He wants to leave?

Unless, and im just speculating here, theres been crack in the Isak camp. Perhaps they've started to feel like that the writing is on the wall in terms of getting a move because clearly we aren't getting that big ticket striker and Liverpool have done nothing to suggest they are going to get anywhere near the 150m.

I just wonder if Eddie has been given a glimmer of hope that he can get Isak back into the fold? It certainly seems like the club have massively ramped up pressure on the player, they've offered him multiple contracts according to Romano, they started giving him fines for not playing, he must be looking at the team playing and be starting to get a little worried.

Let's see in the next week if theres one report of even the chance that hes backing down... thats my prediction anyway.

We can all agree that he's underpaid but that's no excuse for his actions. Put in an official transfer request and continue to train and play as is stated in his contract. It's not like he's on minimum wage.

I just assumed he meant the stance hasn’t changed he’s not for sale and Isak needs to decide wether he’s coming back to play or not

Isak coming off the bench at home to Liverpool next week to grab the winner

Well exactly. Hasn't he already said that he "will never play for us again".

Clearly Howe doesn't believe that to be the case. Hes openly putting pressure on him to rejoin training.

Doesn't that seem a little odd if Howe really thought that Isak wasnt coming back?

Im presuming Howe is still in regular contact with him. Its exactly what id expect Howe to do.

Its entirely hypothetical but my sense is that Howe feels all isnt lost.

I think we can all agree that the earliest he would rejoin the group is when the transfer window closes but there might be an element of backtracking going on.

He's definitely not for sale for just over 100 million. If he has to go to Dontletthemwatchyourkidspool then it's 150 or fuck off, and dont expect to get paid for doing fuck all. In fact, you can iron your suit because you'll be getting a visit from our lawyers (not lawyer, a fucking team of the cunts).

I genuinely feel that we aren't selling without a replacement, otherwise we'd have given Liverpool encouragement and I see very little chance of us signing a big ticket striker.

I was 100% convinced he was gone 2 weeks ago. Im now about 70/30 that hes staying.

Plus, the reports are his camp have immediately shut down any talk of a new deal. Presumably because his agent wants his £10m payout and a contract renewal doesn't get him his money

Would be season suicide to sell him without a replacement

100%. Clubs needs have to come first.

Ultimately, we can give him more money this season and help faciliate a move next summer if we can't find a second striker before the end of the window (which seems likely given the current market)

I've always maintained Liverpool haven't got the brass to afford him, hence the derisory bid and public courting of Isak, they wanted this to happen in a hope it would force our hand to sell cheap, it's been obvious from the start.

We were never going to let our prized asset go for anything less than the asking price no matter how much twisting and turning was done through the media.

Take the emotion out, because that's what they want, to play on emotions and build hatred and distrust like the scouse mackems did with Gordon and you're left with cold hard facts that he isn't replaceable at any cost so it would always take a large wedge to try our hand.

Problem is not much has changed in two weeks regarding a new bid , there’s not even speculation of one anymore , just the ‘Liverpool will bid if Newcastle open the door’ spiel .

TBH we shouldn't be giving him a new deal. Maybe next summer if he decides to stay long-term. But now you'd just be wasting money and losing him next summer anyway.

Yes and no. It protects the club in 2 ways to give him a new deal: 1- we insert a release clause for next summer meaning full value for us (also not having to worry about depreciation) 2- keeps him motivated this season and another 20+ goal season should see us back in top 2 tiers of Europe

Absolutely this, he's not a naughty kid that needs punishing and I get again the emotion involved in his actions. However, practically, and in respect to what is best for the club then a new contract gets everyone what they want and incentivises Isak to knuckle down and makes sure we don't have a repeat of this summer, win, win.
