Yes and no. It protects the club in 2 ways to give him a new deal: 1- we insert a release clause for next summer meaning full value for us (also not having to worry about depreciation) 2- keeps him motivated this season and another 20+ goal season should see us back in top 2 tiers of Europe

How does 1 work if he plays crap stinks the place out and nobody bids.

TBH we shouldn't be giving him a new deal. Maybe next summer if he decides to stay long-term. But now you'd just be wasting money and losing him next summer anyway.

Maybe just a wee raise so Isak can feel like he's saved a bit of face. You've got to remember that we're dealing with a spoiled man-baby.

So, a wee raise, get him back in the team with an agreement that he can leave next summer if someone meets our asking price. We save money on buying another striker other than Wissa then we can maybe get another cm in and maybe one more.

Saying that about Wissa though, we've saved money with the signings we've made not being the super expensive ones we originally wanted so maybe........try for Samu instead? Younger, sell on value, and he's a fucking beast.

Whilst it doesn’t particularly help us in our stance I don’t have an issue with fans singing stuff, however I do agree that whilst its probably just semantics that ‘one greedy bastard’ doesn’t make sense in this regard.

It seems to be the default song our fans sing about someone who leaves or doesn’t sign for us even if it doesn’t exactly make sense. I remember our fans singing it at Maddison against Spurs at SJP when we done them 4-0, despite us not even bidding for him in summer 2023 when he did go to Spurs.

Similar issues with the song book in general, make a new song that calls him a cunt or something.

This could be a bit unfair on Krafth but ….

The Swede is a cunt

The Swede is a cunt

I’m having turnip. The Swede is a cunt.

If he asked for a move whilst still putting the hard graft in training/games I think most fans would't begrudge him the move.  It's just the complete selfish nature of his actions which is hard to stomach.

He has completely derailed our pre season and transfer window due to the timing of his temper tantrum, and now his unprofessionalism has cost us points at Villa.

Eddie Howe must feel really let down. In contrast, you see someone like Eze, who has clearly been desperate for a move to one of the "big 6" all summer.  Eze hasn't for one moment disrespected the club, fans, or colleagues by half arseing it, or going on bloody strike. Instead he put his boots on today, and put in a great shift for Palace against Chelsea.

Isak could've easily left the club with the same class and been a legend forever.

Well exactly. Hasn't he already said that he "will never play for us again".

He hasn’t said that though, in fact he’s said absolutely nothing at any point throughout all of this. It’s all been reports from media that his agent has no doubt fed them.

Not an accident I suspect and supports your overarching point, which is that Isak hasn’t closed the door completely and is weighing what his next move will be.

When he told the club he wanted to leave is a moot point really, the fact is that no club has met our valuation of him.

I'll just check the date on his transfer request.

Club should make it clear that anyone suggesting he has made a formal transfer request will be sued for slander.

It would be libel if written.

I get the context, given his ability, in relation to the team, etc... but you have to have a wry smile at someone earning £120k per week being classed as underpaid.

My days.

[emoji38]

Isak and his agent have clearly misread the room. Whilst half the country can't afford to put the heating on, this fuck wants us sympathize with the horrors of only earning £120k per week.

What makes this even more petulant, is the fact he would've got his big money move next summer anyway. I think 90% of the fanbase had already come to terms with Isak not signing a new contract and getting sold to a "big" club next season.

I'm also not believing any of this "Isak was let down by promises of a new contract" narrative. Well he's clearly been offered a new contract in the meantime, so that is all just a bullshit story being briefed to the "transfer guru" nonces by his agent.

You're right of course about his conduct being shit but he shouldn't be leaving as a legend if he jumps ship to a domestic rival regardless of how he has acted.

We aren't Crystal Palace. Abroad may have been a different story.

No we are not Crystal Palace. Their players who want a move haven’t gone on strike.

Some really good points made on the last 2 pages, it’s really not as simple as him staying or leaving.

So what if we’d given him a new deal at end of season. Am guessing he’d be on 200 grand a week which then makes things tricky when signing other players. Their agents will use that as a benchmark.

I honestly think the wages are a major reason why we’ve not followed through with some other targets when other clubs have come in.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United can offer higher wages and it’s really that simple.

But for Eddie Howe he needs to ensure that going forward we try and stick to the same model and similar wage structure.

Does that mean the player has gotten too big for the club? No of course not but his ego sure has.

I’ve always hated Michael Owen since his time with us, but he’s been relegated now for this cunt. Such a shitty way to go about things.

The club have done as best as they can do currently. Not publicly shit on the player or made an example out of him but that time will come imho..

There’s no way he’ll ever get the supporters on side. He’d need to score 40 plus goals and I reckon he’d still get hammered every week.

Its opened up the market for someone else to come in and low ball us now.

Fucking cunt.

Disagree with your point saying there is no way he’ll ever get the supporters on side. Just needs to return and play well whilst probably apologising to his teammates and manager etc. Wouldn’t need an apology off him personally but would be nice if he did add the fans to that list also.

On the contract conversation, the best idea I've heard is giving him massive bonuses to ensure he's interested e.g. £125k basic plus £150k per goal and £100k per assist. If he wants to make two goal contributions per game, have at it - we'll finish high enough to cover any expenses.

I don't think this twat is interested is even discussing it but I agree that might work out well.

What’s embarrassing is your enduring fetish for contrariness. Embarrassing, and weird.

I just disagree. We’ve never had a striker score 20+ in our PL history back to back, not to mention be the decisive factor in us winning a trophy - and that’s a long list of very good (or better) players so to say he’s lazy and we’ll be better without him is a bit weird in my eyes. As much as his behaviour has been reprehensible he certainly isn’t the first to do it, and the best outcome in terms of points of the board is him not going to Liverpool and scoring goals for us this season before leaving next summer when we’ve got time to invest in replacing him. I really don’t see how that’s such a point of contention but crack on with the personal stuff if it helps your anger towards him subside.

Agree and that is why the best outcome is a renegotiated deal, with pay increase and an agreed release clause that comes into play at the end of this season. If he wants to go then, a club meets the clause and off he goes
