Does the contract outline in black and white the steps for an "official" transfer request? If the club reached an agreeable deal with Liverpool and he came by asking for his Loyalty bonus on the way out, are there any grounds to point to today's statement and tell him to pester that bald Dutch nonce for it instead. tbh i don’t have a clear idea how does it work, it depend on what agreement in his contract i guess Usually if a player formally submitted a transfer request, would mean he acknowledge that he’s committing the offense of breach of contract thus the club will have the rights to void his loyalty bonuses, signing-on fee etc.
BGRM
Just woke up and read the statement (I didn't think they would respond so quickly). The club are playing a blinder and they need to stand their ground. Who the fuck does Isak think he is? I never want to see him in a NUFC shirt again, but I predict he will crawl back like the reptile he is.

That will send the strongest message of all and really put him in his place. Ideally we loan out Osula or sell someone we don't use much ( we only currently have one space left for the 25 man squad if a signing is over 21) and we get two strikers in anyways if he is going to continue this strop Can't see that happening tho, we will sign Wissa or someone else and be hoping he reintegrates into the squad once the window shuts

This is fuck all to do with promises, it’s purely down to him deciding he wants to join Liverpool. He’s decided this is worth torching everything he’s built here to achieve that end. Man is a snake. It's just crazy to me. We're not talking Real Madrid or something here... It's fucking Liverpool. A team we beat in a cup final last season. We were in with a shout of finishing in 2nd place with just a few weeks to go last season. We are not a million miles from them by any measure, so what's the love affair with them specifically all about? I can understand him wanting a pay-rise considering there are other clubs willing to pay him more, but he signed a long-term contract with us on wages he was happy with just a year ago (and had no release clause inserted)... That's football. Sometimes contracts work in your favour (see Targett) sometimes they don't. This is blatant tapping up and coercion through shady agent backroom deals and paid "journalist" mouth-pieces.
St1pe
I can’t shake how damaging this has been to us overall as a club though. I just wish there was another club interested so we could flog him elsewhere and move on. Same as others have mentioning this would all feel far better regardless of whether he stays or goes if we sign a striker good enough to be starting in the Premier League. Exactly, a fully committed Isak and the three or four top tier players we thought we were getting and we’d be challenging them. This is so disappointing. Skeletor
Its more the fact that he has no gratitude to the club. He just spit in the face of all the fans that worshipped him because he's a self-serving narcissist.

Magic Rat
A contract is a two way street. Had Isak been a flop on the field the club would have tried to offload him. But if they were unable to find someone who was prepared to give Isak personal terms that were acceptable to him Isak would have has the option of saying no and the club would have had to continue to pay him his contracted amount until his contract ran out. As he has been a success on the field he wants to move on. But if noone is prepared to pay what is acceptable to the club then he should honour his side of the contract. This idea that the club are at fault for not renegotiating his contract because he has been a success is a nonsense. They are trying to build a top class outfit under restrictions of PSR. To get the squad depth they require they can't keep upping what they pay their top stars.

But I understand why they have done it if they feel ratboy and the scumbag Serb are lying. It only seems fair that we go on record. Especially as for the last month we’ve had the shills, the client journos, the vague statements about contracts, promises etc. All getting stuck into NUFC and trying to make his position so toxic. That we have to sell him. All we have had is Luke Edwards fighting our corner It’s worked in our favour keeping our counsel, mind. Seems like about 80% of the media or more are calling him out for his shitty behaviour and his plan has massively backfired. Now if we could just sign a striker so I don’t have to watch Gordon up top for the next however many weeks. That would be mint. I also did not want a statement but what they have released strikes a good balance between setting out the clubs position to avoid Isak's message being the sole narrative whilst also offering conciliation. The latter is needed given the likelihood Isak stays with us increases by the day and offering no conciliation weakens our negotiating position. 54
Who do we think actually wrote that statement btw? Given the nature, i'm assuming it has to have come from someone like Rueben, or it was written by a PR guy and had to signed off by Rueben?
