In the same way we can’t sell him to send out a message, surely the same applies for a new deal ?

I agree but conflicted. We need a striker and we have the best one in Europe on our books

We’ve wanted him to sign a new contract all summer (some of) you numpties.

He wants to move to Liverpool.

Signing a new deal isn’t us caving or rewarding bad behaviour. It’s us getting what we want.

Absolutely.

New contract, higher wages, fair release clause. We get the best striker in the world for 12 months and he can fuck off next year.

Its a marriage of convenience. It only takes some very good PR to dampen the situation.

No, it really won't. It'll inevitably be a pay bump and a release clause. But if it gets him focussed and putting his full effort for twelve months, then as grating as it would be, it's probably be worth it.

So it will suit us.

Find it absolutely mental if we 'award' his antics with a new deal. Weak as fuck imo.

Doesn't make sense here imo. Rewarding him would be bending over for the scouse cunts. He's not pulling this shit for a contract.

If we have any intention of using him anymore before he goes, he's still one of the best strikers in the world and any new contract we can give him will still be well below any of the clubs that are lucky enough to not need to worry about fiscal responsibility.

At worst he's now learnt to get transfer promises put in to his contract. Otherwise it's as much for our own benefit as it is his.

New contract with a release clause that gets triggered next summer is the obvious outcome at this stage.

Maybe 12 months will be enough for us to sign a replacement 🤣

I don't think PIF would agree to that.

My only question is why didn’t they do that weeks ago

Well reports say we offered him a new contract which he refused.

But maybe facing the 'PIF delegation' :knuppel2: will change his mind and should/could have been done sooner?

The choice between rotting or crawling back on the same money versus getting paid more and having a release clause must be appealing you would think

Can't be bothered to read the article yet but he gave up his home didn't he where they meet a hotel or someone else's house.

Agree with most to kick up this much of an upheaval with no promises it doesn't rince and repeat in Jan a new contract would seem annoying but maybe the thing that gets him focused on playing again.
