Ive been saying all summer that there is a principle involved.... however you dont run businesses on principle. You have to be pragmatic.

I dont like it either but the club have likely known for a while that keeping him was not an option.

I hear you but we could have stood on principle without losing much money ane looking weak, I take that everyday personally.

I so understand the attraction of washing our hands of it but one man's hand washing is another man's running away.

Can't believe we have sold him on the cheap. I personally think he burned too many bridges to be reintegrated but £125m or £130m is far too cheap.

There is one buyer out there and the club have taken a view that's the best they are getting. If it was truly that cheap there would be more interest- but while there are plenty of clubs who can drop £50-60 on a player, very few are in the £100m+ league.

If Isak was unhappy but still playing and training, this deal probably wouldn't have happened at all.

It's been done to death but I'd have expected the club to do what other clubs have done in these situations - hold firm and sell on their own terms when it works for the club. As things stand this might work for the club financially short term, but leaving ourselves short on the field undermines that not just in terms of sporting success but in terms of the very same finances they've prioritised over everything - including the club's reputation.

Yeah i hear ya, but i suspect its made very little impact on the clubs reputation.

If feels that way from the inside but I dont think it does when the dust settles.

I have sympathy for the club wanting to wash their hands of him. I wont have the same sympathy if we dont get another striker.

Don't have time to read back. Have we worked out what the hell this solidarity payment of £5m is for and who pays that to us if it isn't Liverpool? Never seen it reported on a deal in my life!

Also, is their a reported figure for the loyalty payment we don't have to pay? I mentioned last night that I think we could have legally not paid it as his actions constituted a transfer request. It will be spun as Isak giving it up though to force his dream move.

We didn't get all of our duck in a row. We couldn't even live up to the conditions of our statement, unless we really do have a signing lined up.

Did they ever state what those conditions were?

I think everybody on here thought 130-135 was what we were realistically gonna get for him. We have it, so let´s use it and forget about that F*cking C*nt!

If we get another striker in and perhaps a bonus player we will be better off than where we were.

Yep, he´s a 20 goal a season striker, but he also get´s a lot of niggles and often dissappears for a lot of the game. Got the bad apple out of the barrel before a huge amount of rot started. New season starts after international break. We will have a good season!

Might be lack of sleep or brain power but I'm not sure what your getting at Yorks.

On the theory of us demonstrating to every player that all you have to do is strike and you'll get your move...

It's just a thought, but I'm saying we might feel more inclined to 'buckle/fold/crumble' when we're dealing with a once-in-a-generation sale price. If Mr £60million plays the Isak game we might more comfortably retain them because the fee isn't so tempting.

I can see a scenario where he stayed, it took a month to get him up to speed and he put in performances at 80%, even if he scored 15 goals, his value next summer would plummet.

For the club it was a risk.

Can’t believe we have sold him for that ,we needed to make an example of him.

That said let’s move on,he is a cunt and so are Liverpool my new pet hate of a club.

Hate football at the moment like

For all those critical of ownership, what did you want them to do? Keep Isak for a year and still get less money next year (and it would have likely been 110m then) and risk having a sulky cunt in the squad?

The criticism cant be for selling, it has to be for whether they get another striker.

To stick to their word.

- get the fee they had briefed or close. Not 15% less.
- have the replacements through the door first

- sign high ceiling replacements or don’t overpay for a middling talent

I predicted this though. I said we would sell for less than what we are asking for, considerably so. And then overspend on a Wissa or JSL type signing. Panic sell panic buy. PIF haven’t shown an ability to handle difficult situations.

I think we can safely say if this hasn't already been sorted it won't be like, they're a fucking joke.

We'd have had to pay Isak 5m because he hadnt handed in a transfer request. However, seemingly hes not getting it, therefore its 5m extra for us. Liverpool are paying 125.

Examples of that happening? I have plenty of examples where the opposite is true like.

I think it's more than that tbh. It's about who we are as a club, we are supposed to be aspirational right? Who aspires to sell world class players to divisional rivals for cheap? It also about how we negotiate and do things it looks like we rolled over we gave the player to Liverpool at the price they dictated to us.

We went from not for sale, to maybe for sale, to for sale for 150m to for sale but based upon conditions, then for sale at 125m without conditions being fulfilled. It just looks incredibly weak and makes us look like a mark.
