In my experience it's not just us , fans of other clubs seem to despise Liverpool too.

Probably overall the most despised club in English football which just shows how far the popular Sky/BBC narrative is from the truth.

Souness ahead of Bruce and Pardew because he was the manager that knacked the club. Without Souness squandering riches to finish 15th theres no Ashley imo. So and in later years while Souness was swanning around denying any responsibility the other managers were still cleaning up his mess.

 

Bruce was also world champion at denying responsibility. We were just lucky that it was Howe that came in to clean up his mess. With another manager we could have been relegated that season, and not had anywhere near the same success after.

I agree - I hope it increases his focus on the club but its just as likely that it will fuel the PIF vs. FSG rivarly in other areas

I argued all summer that we should hold firm and not sell. But if he really had downed tools like Callum Wilson says, then the club probably just bit the bullet and got rid while we could still get good money for him. Still don't agree with it personally, as it meant we had to overpay on Wissa to get a proven striker in, but I can imagine that we wanted rid of the bad smell at the club and needed to get hungry players back in the club.

We werent planning for a PSR injection, our strategy was to keep him as we evaluated the probability of him turning into the world's biggest cunt as quite small. Its also a rolling 3 year framework, so maybe the targets evaluated as available this window were felt to likely be surpassed by new targets in the coming windows. We are a CM / LB light but the cost / risk / reward of filling those spots last minute must have been tough to evaluate.
