Atletico always have vast sums of money to spend on players. Lots of Atletico deals look dodgy.  Ditto Juventus.

Isak is a viable option for any elite club. There’s a market for him if he performs imo. 3 of them in the PL.

With the clubs I've seen him linked with I can't see it not being a major fee if he looks for a move next summer. It's all of the big spenders.

He's thinking of you describing it as being a decent profit, I believe.

Which I'd disagree with, as we supposedly paid £63m for him, and will owe Sociedad 10% of any sale. Profit or gross, I'm not sure - assuming it's profit, that would give us £15m on the sale, which is sod all for assuming all that risk.

But £80m isn't an "insult," it's an enormous transfer fee and a decent profit on what we paid.

Okey sorry, but its not a decent profit either. What is the profit? 17m?

How much roughly will be left on his contract at the end of this season?

Is it just 63m - ((63m / 5)*3)?

Which would be £25.2m remaining, so this is where we'd be considering profit above

He joined on a 6 year deal, so half his fee.

From a PSR perspective yes so an £80m sale, assuming the 10% sell on claim is accurate, is +£46.8m on the PSR calculation.

I think 5 years is the max for FFP, unless we signed him before Chelsea wound up getting the loophole closed, I can't remember

Yes, signed him before that change.

I hadn't considered the Sociedad contribution so will make a concession there. Still, I'm not sure what leverage is to be gained by having to make a sell-on contribution. From the buyer's point of view, they're offering £17million profit and that's hardly unreasonable.

As I've said more than once now; I'd expect us to hold out for more in the event of any concrete interest because Isak is a phenomenal striker and he's beyond crucial to NUFC. But I honestly think anyone expecting us to say "nine figures or fuck off," just isn't living in the real world. Deals of that nature have happened, obviously, but in 50% of cases Chelsea were the buyers and in the other 50% of cases the players were key England internationals.

£100m+ isn't going to become the norm. One of the league's best players was recently illuminated in Fenwicks window for that price and no one bit.

PSR profit is paper profit ultimately, though. It's like selling Barnes for £30m and saying we've made a profit on him. In PSR that's kind of true, but you can't lose sight of the actual money, either - and thanks to spending little last summer, we're less desperate for PSR slack than we were.

Another thing to consider in all this is that PSR might collapse - or at least be heavily altered - in the next year or two, thanks to the associated parties and debt rulings. That might lead player prices to severely spike again.

80m is a lot of money, but if we only made 17m profit on one of the best players we have had, thats very underwhelming.

£100m is the norm for a 25-year-old striker who has scored 40 goals in 78 games for a PL team. Who is noted for his speed, technical skill, and composure and has three years left on his contract.

You are right that he may be priced out of a move next summer. Because to me £80 only starts to look a decent price with 2 years left on his contract.

I think somewhere in the 90's would be a reasonable fee for him - if we can get more then great.

But who would replace him? Got to be someone who will fit in with our team and tactics.

Not that I want him to go - hes an amazing player. And he'll score even more with proper service from the right wing position.

Rice a technically limited DM went for 100m+

Caceido went for 100m+

A known to be garbage Havertz went for 65m+

Anthony 70m+

Hoiberg 70m+

None but one of the aforementioned are strikers.

Selling for anything less than 110m (bar being last year of his contract or similar) would be negligence by the club.

The striker market is dire, I personally wouldn't respond at anything under 120m

I wish our flops were as good as Chelsea flop Jackson with his 6 goals and 3 assists in 11 games this season  He was about half the price we paid for Isak too.

When I say flops, I mean they aren't the standard their clubs are looking for. Jackson's not a bad striker, but would you seriously swap him for Isak? Isak is an elite finisher, that is what the top clubs demand.

80m is an insult gents. I’m sorry to say. If you accept 80m for Isak you’ve been had.

We paid £60 million (70m euros) for him ffs

Even accepting PSR deflation (case in point being the Osimhen situation), you don't let him go for anything less than £100 million.

I'm surprised the contract thing is such a big deal given he'll still have three years left even at the end of the season. Obviously ideally you get him tied down longer term but for now I think we still clearly hold all the cards.

Between inflation the last two years and the sell on %, we would probably only break even by selling him for 80m

No way we should be the first club thinking "well, its probably a fair price as the market has been a bit crazy the last few years"

Not worried about him leaving if we're playing well and he's scoring. The latest stuff reeks of his agent, but that also implies he's probably happy to stay for the right amount of money.

If we ever accept less than nine figures for him I will be furious.

Havertz is so underrated now based on these posts. He's not amazing but he's nowhere near flop or garbage status. His size, strength and technical ability are rare in the same package and he's so versatile too.

Largely agree with this he's really good but he's just not an outright finisher, he's rated on all the other stuff he brings to the game. He's an elite level ayoze perez more than anything
