I honestly have had the same thought. At the very least I think he's our best player since Shearer.

I hope people remember days like this before they enter this thread to disparage him the next time he goes a few matches without scoring and is missing chances. Striker is the most inconsistent position by nature; all of them will have cold spells. The reality is that Isak is easily one of the best forwards in the entire world when he is "on" and that is a very good amount of the time. Even when he's not scoring, his general play is incredibly valuable to the team. Easily the most important player in the team; the success of the remainder of the season will depend heavily on his availability.

Exactly. Was really odd to read some of the comments earlier in the season, it was a great example of short term memory. It's normal for any striker to have some bad spells.

I've not used the word "talented". Isak has yet to reach the heights of peak Shearer (1994-96)

To be fair we've won 3 in a row in dominant fashion so can't spend his Saturday night telling everyone how Howe isn't good enough and 'his excellency' won't put up with it.

I can't remember saying that but if I did it would have to have been with PSR in mind.

 

Nobody in their right mind thinks that Delap is better than Isak.

Also, fair to say he is the best striker in the league now the Erling FRAUDland* is no longer playing for the Harlem Globetrotters.

 

(* - only in jest, Haaland is great, but I do think Isak is the better player).
