From BBC's Gossip:

Arsenal have made Newcastle and Sweden striker Alexander Isak, 25, their top attacking target, while the Magpies will consider Everton and England's Dominic Calvert-Lewin, 27, and Lille and Canada's Jonathan David, 24, as replacements. (TeamTalk)

Imagine the reaction to selling Isak and replacing him with Calvert-Lewin or David.

Would rightfully go down like a lead balloon, that being said I'm confident nobody knows less than teamtalk.

Who would be an acceptable replacement? There aren't really any out there. Osimhen, Gyokeres, Openda, Vlahovic, Delap or Boniface?

I wouldn't be selling. I'd be doing whatever I could to renew him in a year or so. If we have to sell him then it would be a record fee 120m plus so we'd have funds to replace him with any of those names you mentioned.

The only way I’d consider selling him would be for c£125m and if we’d also got David in on a free. That money would allow us to bring in 3 quality players in the next window.

Neither of those things are going to happen though so I’d be keeping him and doing whatever I could to get him to sign a new deal.

It wouldn’t like.

This is the PSR trap.  You need recurring revenue.  90m profit on Isak pays the PSR cost of 3 £50m players for 2 years. Years 3-5 we need to find another £45m of revenue growth just to pay for them.

If we have a model of buy low and sell high potentially we can keep doing this until our revenue is consistently higher. But that would mean selling our best players and still regularly qualifying for big European competitions.

We need to double our revenue to consistently compete with the cartel clubs. here’s to the rules changing.

Imagine the chances of Isak to get no goals or assists in a 6 - 0 win for Sweden when he plays the full match.

One disallowed and a penalty miss. You have to think we'll need to climb down a bit and accept £75m for him in January now.

Sell him for £120 million. Buy osimhen for £60. Use the rest for a left winger and the guehi cash for someone other than guehi. Piece of piss.

I really don't know why DCL is consistently linked, he's one of the worst starting strikers in the league. He shouldn't even be starting for Everton.

Would possibly be the biggest downgrade in history.

I think the media has already forgotten about our takeover. They've moved on from linking us with every overpaid 30+ primadonna out there.

Howe rates DCL. We tried for him just this past summer.

In fact even previous to that, had he not gotten injured at the time, along with Everton having just got a boatload of money for Richarlison, and so were in no hurry to sell, he might have been our current striker ahead of Isak. That was the word at the time.

With his contract now running down and him being available on a free, probably should prepare yourself for the possibility of him joining.

Can't wait to see Mitchell get the blame for that, because obviously he's the one who wants DCL.

For real though, I don't really think we will go for him, but lets see. You'd think that Osula will get more time on the field next season, assuming that he has some real potensial.
