Good third choice keepers have become fashionable lately e.g Scott Carson

There is benefit in having a really decent third choice keeper as it improves standards in training.

player can get a decent wage and not have the pressure of day to day games - it’s a nice life to have.

If we're extending Gillespie and offered Karius a deal, you'd think that's Dubravka off?

Strong chance. Guessing we wait to see if Karius accepts, given he will have offers from elsewhere. If he stays here I highly doubt it would to be as 3rd choice. Would likely mean Dubravka is off and Karius is official the number 2.

Glad he's here and would love him to stay, but absolutely wouldn't begrudge him if he could find somewhere to be the number one. Hope the support he's had here, particularly around the final where he put in a solid shift will have helped him exorcise some of those demons.

Strongly disagree, can’t be relying on someone who has played so little football imo.

Don't most number 2 keepers play little football?

Not as little as he has over the last few years, most number 2 keepers at least play regular cup games. Quick look and I think Karius has played 7 games in 3 years, would be a concern relying on him for any length of time if Pope got injured.

Good. Now let’s move Dubs on.

Ready made replacement for De Gea now that they've let him go on a free. Already spent time at the club, seasoned pro. Reckon a cut rate price of £25m for our good friends in the north west should do.
