midds Posted Sunday at 23:09 Share Posted Sunday at 23:09 There are players starting every week for Man U that wouldn't have got as much as a sniff of a squad place at the same club 10 or 15 years ago. They've got a small handful of very good players and then the drop off is ridiculous. Tie that in with the loss of the 'aura' from the club and Old Trafford and they're in real danger of slipping into the chasing pack and finishing 6th-8th on a very regular basis. They've spent a large fortune and lost their entire identity only to become a pale shadow of what they used to be

I like Amad and Mainoo but I'd hardly be desperate to sign them. I'd pass on Dalot personally. I just don't understand how with the money they've spent they don't have at least two players everyone wants.
Geordie Ahmed Posted Sunday at 23:15 Share Posted Sunday at 23:15 Man U were average today but that's no reflection on Amorim, he's only been in the job 2 minutes We saw it took Howe a while to rid the stench of Bruce, this will take time too Obviously there's no guarantee Amorim will manage to do that but it's only fair to judge him later down the line He's quite fortunate the Premier League is so compact that he can afford to take his time and will not necessarily need to put massive winning runs together to move up the table Though I do hope it ends in failure and he ends up being out of his depth

There were some noises that their players struggled with ten Hag's instructions too. Their squad of players seem to prefer a simpler approach to things. RVN seemed to go with that during his brief stint, and it's the most comfortable and effective they'd looked in a while. Wonder how long before their fans start wanting RVN to come back

Turnbull2000 Posted Monday at 00:02 Share Posted Monday at 00:02 (edited) I'm sure I saw a moment in the Man U game where Rashford made a clumsy pass and lost the ball, and made absolutely no effort whatsover to recover it. Basically just stood there. He looks completely done with that club, or even just playing football. Yet his salary is probably more than double that of our most important players ffs. Never mind double of your most important players, it's double of some of ours. We'll never get back to where we want to be if Rashford keeps playing. I'm hoping Amorim figures that out quite quickly. Disco Posted Monday at 00:22 Share Posted Monday at 00:22 Man Utd are a more glamorous version of The Ev when you look at their squad building and transfer business.

It’s literally a Marcus Rashford “thing” and has been for quite a while. Watch our 2-0 against them last year and see how many times he attempted a feeble tackle, only to thereafter just stand still and watch the attack take place. He’s a talented player, just can’t be arsed to give it his all.

Rather amusingly they've appointed a guy who plays 3 at the back and the squad they have doesn't seem to be well suited to it. Absolutely mind blowing they didn't bin ETH in the summer instead letting him piss more money on players for another manager.

Think they’ll improve IMO but as always they’ve got huge weaknesses he’ll need to address and their squad is a total mess in terms of playing high intensity 3-4-2-1 if that’s the way forward for them. They always struggle to move players on as they pay well and you can’t see that changing soon. The longer it continues the better is for us so long may it continue but I suspect they’ll become less flakey when Amorim is more embedded. He’ll surely start playing with a semblance of a midfield for a start.

Oh aye, they will definitely improve over the medium to long term with such resources it's very difficult to be totally hopeless over any period of time. Froggy Posted Monday at 09:02 Share Posted Monday at 09:02 Watching that game yesterday by the way... I don't see eye to eye with KI very often in terms of footballing opinions, but by fuck was he right about Drury. Jesus Christ.

Yorkie Posted Monday at 09:59 Share Posted Monday at 09:59 I'll admit that I thought Drury was a good appointment to that role because he's the antithesis of later-years Tyler in terms of energy and enthusiasm. I can't knock his love for the game because that's exactly what you need in that position. But yeah, the flowery word salad is horrendous, just so unnecessary. So tempting to believe you’ll be the manager who gets the best out of Rashford though. He’s probably going to try it for a few weeks at least.
