I'll admit that I thought Drury was a good appointment to that role because he's the antithesis of later-years Tyler in terms of energy and enthusiasm. I can't knock his love for the game because that's exactly what you need in that position. But yeah, the flowery word salad is horrendous, just so unnecessary.

That doesn't annoy me tbh, it's the 'ALEJANDRO GARNACHO!!!!!!!' when he has a shot (same with every player).

It's totally unbearable.

It looks like Rashford has completely lost interest in Football. Maybe he has fallen into the "C" celebrity category where the sycophants massage his ego instead of the football giving him the same dopamine burst/feelgood factor.

Drury is probably alongside Pearce as the most unbearable commentator on TV right now. Horrific to listen to.

Sky being fully staffed by Man Utd and Liverpool players and fans is really odd, it’s like they think nobody else watches games.

And you should be sacked if you pay more attention to the narrative than what’s actually happening in the game.

It all annoys me. The ramblings of a madman at the start of the game and when someone scores. The shouting like a FIFA commentator whenever someone shoots like you’ve referenced. Even when it’s clearly not going in.

Probably his worst offence is his ‘and Nunez and Diaz and Robertson AAAAND Salah’ when players are passing it about. So annoying.

Just remembered when he somehow managed to still sound like a hysterical weirdo while commentating on Messi, which really takes some doing.

"Hahaha only him....only him.....the guy's not human."

After Messi scored a pen.

Well was it a regular scoring of a pen?

Or did it hit both posts, the crossbar then trickle over the line via deflection of the GK's ass?

Because one of those is much harder for a human to pull off, so...

It was a panenka, but still. You'd think he'd break-danced it in.

I still don't know why Guy Mowbray doesn't get more work, he always seems to get the balance right whenever i've heard him. Same with Adam Summerton on TNT, as with the dude who does the EFL coverage on Sky (I can't remember his name) he's always decent.

Mowbray is number one for BBC (FA Cup finals/England games).

The BBC's suite of comms is generally spot on. Mowbray, Steve Wilson, Steve Bower, Simon Brotherton, Conor McNamara, John Roder, Alistair Mann - all excellent. Can understand why people might not like Jonathan Pearce but his is still a pretty iconic voice. I'd have every single one in a heartbeat ahead of Matterface and Drury.

I like that Alan Smith who does TNT. He was doing some comms during the Euros for Fox here and he was the most enthused and knowledgeable. Also huge fan of his during Paris (h) and other stuff I hear from him.

It's absolutely brutal. I don't know if its recency bias or im just paying more attention to football in general since we got rid of the slug. But it's absolutely nauseating.

You just know the build up to our game later is going to be centered around Amorim and Slot.

I think it’s because I don’t watch many games on TV now as well. When I do I really notice how grim it is. Last night was Ipswich v Man Utd and it sounded like WWE.

Never mind double of your most important players, it's double of some of ours.

We'll never get back to where we want to be if Rashford keeps playing. I'm hoping Amorim figures that out quite quickly.

Hard to leave your 400k a week superstar on the bench. Also odd he thought he’d be suitable to lead the line for his high intensity press.

I'd say he's going to give everyone a chance, but he'll quickly realise Rashford isn't it.

£300k per week by the way. His wage is bad enough without whacking an imaginary £100k on top of it.

Hudson has a bit of a knowing wink with the audience when he's coming out with his Sid Waddell comedy stuff, and at least it mostly matches what you're watching. Drury would probably be more bearable if he was a bit more side-eyed but he genuinely seems to think and wants you to think that he's profound and a kind of slam poet Keats.

Got no idea why you can't mute the commentators and just have the live stadium audio like you could during lockdown 1. Was bliss just switching the fuckers off and listening to the actual sound of the game (the fact there was no crowd was a bit eerie but still preferable than listening to that cunt drone on like he does now. Drury was fucking unbearable yesterday and got muted eventually but then there's no feedback at all from the game and you end up missing things if it's silence.

He's under the mistaken belief that there's a correlation between his enthusiasm and the entertainment it provides. All I need a commentator to do is to let me know who's got the ball and the occasional stat in there if it's relevant, the game itself is the entertainment. The fucker wants to hijack the whole experience and dominate everything with his fucking drivel, making it all about how fucking great he sounds. He's supposed to be like the cutlery in a restaurant, necessary but very much in the background. I despise the prospect within a second of hearing the cunt's voice

Summed up absolutely perfectly.
