Surely it can't be a handball as a goalkeeper? It's a passback, not a handball.

But it becomes a handball when the law is he can't handle the ball, surely?

Christ, I'll happily keep Pope knowing whenever the striker charges him down he can just pick the ball up and we can get all 11 men on the line and a yellow card.

Free kick.

Because it was a back pass the keeper isn't allowed to handle it. Ergo free kick.

Not really, no? It's no different to it he picks it up from a passback. You wouldn't get a red card for that. It's exactly the same thing. Passback not a handball.

Are Bournemouth really a threat to us? I mean maybe they are if we want to finish top 8 instead of top 5.

They're only a threat to us when we play them. Fucking hate them for that and want to beat them so badly.

I think that's an abysmal law. Surely when he's facing a backpass he's equivalent to an outfield player.

Pope handballs it 35 yards from goal, red card.

Palmer handles a backpass stopping a goal, yellow and indirect free-kick.

Doesn't add up to me. He's illegally denied a goalscoring opportunity.

3 points behind us as it stands, so I’d say so, especially IF Man City get a points deduction.

It's just not a handball though because he's a goalkeeper in his box. The passback rule was brought in to prevent time wasting and improve the flow of the game. The punishment for it has always been an indirect free kick, I don't understand why you think the goalkeeper should be charged with a handball punishment.

Carlisle on the brink.

As much as I’d like them to stay up because they are relatively close to us, has there ever been a period of time where they aren’t circling the drain?

Potter has been incredibly uninspiring at West Ham

Give him time and they will recover. They were in a mess when he took over. If they are still bobbins by Christmas then I'd agree with you. They really struggled losing Antonio.

Did Carlisle not sign Paul Dummett? Bit of a fall for him given he was in a CL squad 18 months ago.

Apparently AWOL at Carlisle, working through mental health issues.

Yeah agree, same as Morecambe, other than the short period they both spent in L1, they’ve been flirting with dropping out the league for years.
