Not all that impressed by Villa like, especially since that was their 6th win in a row. They were really good for 25 minutes, got 2 goals while Forest were all over the shop, then had to rely on luck, good keeping and the woodwork to not lose by 2 or 3. Nothing to fear when we play them away if we setup right and are on it.

Tbf I think they have been really good. They are in UCL QF, FA Cup final and top 6 right now. You can't expect them to play well all the time. I hope we do beat them as their own place we were rhe ones ro end the streak last season

If Villa were to finish above us it would be down to us having season ending form that wouldn’t get us fifth anyway. They’re not a concern if we take care of ourselves. Forest though are out of our hands currently but they are very much at risk of dropping out

That Villa squad are perfectly capable of beating teams like Soton, Bou, Fulham, Man Utd and Spurs. My guess would be that none of these have anything to play for when they face them (but Fulham or Bournemouth might). They won't need to win every game. Even against us or Man City they can get something.

Speaking about today over a full game, not their season which has been good. 5 consecutive wins prior, I expected more quality and control from them, Forest dominated that for an hour

Great win for Villa who kind of got away with one. Emery clearly had half a mind on PSG and nearly got punished for it. The rotated lads he played got it over the line, but that was very squeaky bum.

Forest unlucky. Created many chances in the second half. Some decent ones for Anderson, but he didn't work the keeper. Its something he needs to work on if he wants to be an elite midfielder.

If we hadn't spent a third of this season not even bothering to try to defend, we'd be sitting pretty now.

We've got a full squad back now, and are still alive in two cups, which is great, and that's 7 wins in a row in all competitions, but I still feel we've probably left it too late in the league.

Villas XG was higher than Forests during both halfs. Forest didn't bury the low XG chances like they usually do.

Can only assume that's because of Rogers' chance (the only one I really remember) which was almost gilt-edged and most of Forests whistled past the post or hit woodwork from range. One of those times XG just does not tell the same story your own eyes do imo.

Enjoyed that game. Forest not clinical with their chances. We’ve just got to focus on winning our games (obviously) A pummelling of Leicester to up our GD would be good [emoji38]

I feel like for us now, pressure is off and whatever happens between now, and the season ending is going to be fine.

Gutsy side Forest, more impressed by them in defeat today than i've been watching them win sometimes this year

Can see a good portion of their fanbase turning on Nuno next season due to this, when they have shown how good they can play when chasing a lead like today and against us.  "Why don't we start games like this."

I don’t want Villa thinking they have a chance of CL when we got to Villa Park.

I don’t expect they can get to 67 points. But that does require them to drop points. The sooner the better.

Forest or none  of my concern. They don’t play any of our other rivals for the rest of the season.  I expect them to get 68 points or more though.

If we get 68 points we should get 5th. But we do need to keep an eye Chelsea, City and to a lesser extent Villa. A draw today would’ve pretty much ruled Villa out the race.

Villa have GD which puts them a point down on everybody else basically and they've played two games more than us.

I think the way of looking at it is if we finish below them we're not getting top 5 anyway.

Thats the point though. We 100% need to finish above Villa. We don’t need to finish above Forest.

Question.

Marco Asensio is allowed to play against has parent club (PSG) for Villa this week. He’s obviously become a key player for them but would you trust him to play in the two biggest games of your recent history?

Yes. He’s surprise to requirements at PSG - if anything he’ll be extra motivated.  Remember Lua Lua ending or CL hopes?

Remember Morata knocking Real out of the CL for Juve when he was essentially there on loan.

Villa made 8 changes from the team that played their last game, they were equal to forest... Pretty impressive tbf

Good depth and got momentum.  I expect PSG to dent that momentum mind.  But the PL game couldn’t be easier.

If I were the PSG owners - with immense wealth and influence - there's not a fucking chance I'd be letting Asensio put in any kind of shift against my side and not suffer repurcussions [emoji38]

I'd have him back in the summer and staring into the reserves or pedaled to Steve Bruce otherwise

His contract is up next season. It’s I’m everyone’s best interest that he is sold in the summer. He’s currently playing himself into a big money Saudi move at worst.
