Just seen the Lewis-Skelly red card. Awful decision! ???

Ā

But - it's Arsenal on the end of it. :)

I was just now working through my saved programmes and in the Football League highlights there was a Wigan player getting a straight red for a somewhat similar thing last week. Stevenage guy beats him to the ball and is running away and he just kicks him.

Ā

Again, I would always have given a yellow, but I can see the refā€™s point of view. He just kicks him with the ball miles away. There should be a much higher threshold for a straight red and itā€™s clearly not the right decision, but occasionally itā€™s nice for a simple, blatant cheater to be told to fuck off out of it

I gues the key thing would be is he reckless or using excessive force?

There is no way Spurs can drop points against this Leicester side right?Ā

We can drop points against anyone. If they play a low block and take the chances that everyone gets against us then theyā€™ve got a chance. Plus if Richarlison gets injured thatā€™s our presence up front knackered.

A Spurs loss would be funny but we've played our fixtures against them and we still have Leicester, so ultimately Leicester being dead and buried when we play them would be nice. They are pretty much gone anyway like.

Richarlison is a selfish overrated player.Ā  Certainly not a team player and a face that I would never get sick of punching.

Iā€™d argue going to trip someone to stop a counter when the ball is nowhere near. But accidentally catching the player with your studs halfway up their shin. With you then treading on their ankle, is pretty reckless.Ā
Ā

You see similar ones given when the ball is there to be played. So I genuinely donā€™t understand why it is seen as so controversial?Ā
Ā

Iā€™m convinced everyone thought it was for a professional foul at first and they just canā€™t adjust their opinion. Despite the mounting evidence.
Ā

Of course their fans and the media are more than happy to carry on fuelling the fire with all the talk of how CONTROVERSIAL it is.Ā

I think the thing that really counted against him was that he was nowhere near the ball, so clearly a deliberate foul, but he got him with the studs.

Ā

That said it looks like he was just trying to do an initial trip and then his foot got dragged onto the top of the Wolves player's foot. I agree I think a red's harsh there.

I think too many people get caught up with ā€˜intentā€™.Ā
Ā

I donā€™t think he has gone to do him like that. But you know, he has?
Ā

Curtis Jones against Spurs. Bruno against Southampton in the semi final. Even Duran on Schar, which was deliberate IMO. Theyā€™re all reds whether they meant to catch the player or not.Ā
