The annoying - well let’s just say corrupt - thing is that the VAR and reffing in our game was as it was supposed to be. Ball bounces up and hits the Villarreal player on the hand, refs take a look and say nah, you’ve got to be sure to give a penalty. Then you put Real Madrid in a game and what happens?

Regarding Madrid, the large majority of their CL wins in the Cristiano era had an incredible amount of dodgy decisions go in their favour so cool to know somethings never change.

Just feels like the only way you're going to be allowed to win is if you actually ruin them and there's a bullshit cushion of a few goals. That's the only way to do it, like when we whacked PSG at home. Any close game against 'them' and you're fucked, they'll find a goal or a pen or a red card and you get stitched up

Think we had the better of the first half, got outplayed in the second, all that matters is the result really. We look like what we are, a team under new management with a couple of new players trying to work things out. Going to take some time. We were weirdly casual at times and I think when we’re attacking we’re not familiar enough with each other’s movement to make the right decisions. I think it will come.

The new format gives the bigger teams more ways to some how get away with being shite as proved with PSG and Real Madrid last season.
