I think the 6 are the 6 now though. Aye I'd be surprised if the top 6 looked different come the end of the season. Our aim was Europa League and I'd still be happy with that, but the hope for the CL is there. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Villa finish 6th mind. They're in a false position. Judging Man U last season I would have said at the start of the season you were out of your mind to want any form of Europe, you just felt so far behind the pack and with alot of "fixing" to do what was it in the end 15th and 40ish points?. Just shows what a good window of investment can do (forgetting us for a min Spurs had a similar season to you last year and have been unable to improve their domestic fortunes with a summer of investment so its not guaranteed). I know your model probably needs Europe every season to make it work but you have to be pushing for Champions League at this point especially as its likely (not sure confirmed yet) that top 5 will get it. I agree with you the top 6 look likely to be the teams that are there at this point just depending on order (still plenty of points to play for though still), I am just hoping this mini run of form can continue now for us and we can get top 7 possibly top 6 if someone messes up. The fact they're playing 40 games total this season I think is a big factor. Compared to the teams around them they'll be very well rested.

Agreed its a big factor but they also had to navigate a change of manager, a lot of attacking first team changes the noise around will Bruno stay or go etc. They have surpassed there points total from last year already and are back in the mix at the top 6, despite the 1 game a week I still think its a big swing in the right direction within a single windows transfer business. I hope it can be used to give us a little hope that getting it right in the summer can also help us bounce back from a very streaky season for us. Buying a completely brand new attack and GK and only targeting top 6 is awful by the way especially with no European football to contend with (and as it turned out, no Carabao Cup football). Lish007
Id love Liverpool to miss out on CL, and if it can't be because of us, then at least because of Man Yew as that would lol. Especially after all the money theyve spent. I hope for Isak in the mud.

"Replacing Rashford, Sancho, Antony, Garnacho, Hojlund and Onana with Mbeumo, Sesko, Cunha and Lammens and only targeting to finish 9 places higher than last season is awful by the way." Perspective isn't it? Newcastle basically brought a brand new attack as well and you're aiming for top 7 after finishing 5th. That's awful by the way. Once we lost Isak we were never competing for a CL spot, Spurs were never competing. That leaves Arsenal, Liverpool, City, Chelsea & Villa. 5 will get in so you you only have to get in ahead of one. No Europe and talented forwards will get you in.

They had just beaten us in the Europa League final and got a manager that many thought was better than ours? I love how because you lost Isak we're automatically supposed to finish above you despite us finishing 10 league places below you. That's not taking into account that about 6 months ago most on here would have suggested your team was better than ours man for man with Bruno being the only exception. You spent more than us in the summer and we sold more first team players than you too. Making it sound like your success was fuck all to do with Howe or anyone else, and entirely to do with Isak. Maybe that's true? Suggesting 6th is an awful aim when you've finished 15th is a ludicrous statement as well. Just mental statements all round. In every previous season under Howe, Newcastle had played with a striker capable of playing on the shoulder and supporting the high press. Anyone who understands how Eddie Howe team's play would know that not having a striker with that profile would have a significant, likely negative (at least in the short term), impact on the team.
