Arsenal getting through the CL semis and wrapping players in cotton wool ahead of the final is more important. Means we can up the intensity against them and they’ll bottle it again.

That is true.

I was just pointing out that Arsenal dropping points against Palace was not a good result for us.

We'll finish ahead of Arsenal still man. They have to go to Bournemouth, sandwiched between 2 PSG games, then Anfield 4 days later for Liverpool's after party.

I'd love it, love it if we beat them...

Joelinton being fit might still have a big bearing on where we finish. I don't really like any of the options we have to replace him.

I think we will beat Brighton and that will effectively give us the Chelsea game to seal it.

That wouldn't seal it. It would knock Chelsea out of the running (depending on their result against Liverpool), but I think we're still going to need to get to 69 points to actually seal it. Think Villa are more than capable of bouncing back and winning their last 4 games.

CL is vital for holding onto and attracting certain players this summer never mind the world of PSR. Our squad is thin but the new format of the champions league makes it more manageable with recruitment. Also give your head a wobble and have a bit of positivity ffs 😂 We’re 3rd and have every chance of qualifying.

Sorry bud but I was born pessimistic. Expecting the worst makes it harder to feel let down 😕

There’s a possibility of Liverpool not turning up. But the idea of ‘not being able to see it’ Liverpool have lost two games all season and they’re playing a rival, that’s just silly.

People get off on being pessimistic here so they can be smug if we fail. Look at the relegation thread in Howe’s first year, was insufferable.

I don't get off on being pessimistic, it's just the way that life has conditioned me. I hope in the next life that I'm an eternal optimist.

What do you reckon Villa getting knocked out of the FA Cup would do for the CL race?

They were devastated by the late loss to City, and they properly took that into Palace where they were rinsed, and their players looked knackered. Now Rashford is out I think them winning 4 in a row will be a huge ask for them.

More interested in what them losing out on the CL positions would do given they have gambled quite a lot on expensive loan signings in the hope of qualifying again.

Were they really that expensive? Not sure what wage they're on, but even if they're paying £400,000 a week for them combined for 20 weeks or so, that's only 8 million quid. They probably made that back in progressing through the CL this season.

We are currently 5 points ahead of Villa. If we beat Brighton and then Chelsea, we would still be at least 5 ahead of Villa with only 6 points left to play for.

Considering Chelsea play Liverpool next in the league, and Villa have 2 games against teams going for Europe left to play, we could easily be in a position where winning our next 2 games results in us finishing in the top 5.

Looking at Forests 5 remaining games..The only one thats a banker is Leicester..They have Brentford on Thur night..Palace away, Leicester, West Ham and Chelsea..Can see them dropping points in at least 2 of those fixtures

Leicester is a little bit of a derby though. With them already being relegated, there is absolutely no pressure on Leicester at all, and all the pressure will be on Nottingham Forest due to expectation, and hopes for a Champions League spot.

Leicester gave us a scare the last time we were chasing PL. They also got relegated that season. Only a Nick Pope save got us the point we needed.

There are usually pretty hefty loan fees as well, that is why most clubs avoid loan deals these days.

They’re much worse this time though. I’d say that’s a banker. West Ham isn’t a bad fixture either but the others are tricky definitely.

Yet another weekend of Man City being shit.. 4 wins in a row and 8 games unbeaten. Will struggle against the mighty mid table teams.

Lazio and Roma play in the same stadium let alone the same city. Swap one of them out for another team with two syllables and increase the geographical diversity of the song.

Very unlikely Lazio and Roma will be in next season's CL. One might get in, not both

didn't realise the Euopa final is sandwiched between the final 2 games

very handy for Villa if both Spurs and MU get there

though I expect Bilbao to take care of that
