The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

Recommended Posts

As for Newcastle. Has to be the Champions League ideally.

The money from all those games would be huge.

The new format also increases the chances of progressing through.

CL qualification off the heels of a trophy win would put us in such a strong position for the summer. We'd be in total control of where we want to take the squad. The new format also makes it much more likely we could get at least to the playoff round and there's more money available than last time.

The Europa League would be a fun consolation with a likelihood of progressing far and a possibility of winning it. The money can become decent if you make it far enough too.

There are some famous clubs, but at least half of the teams in the final eight of this year's conference league have Championship-level revenues. There are spending disparities in all competitions, but the gap is a bit extreme for the top PL clubs.

If I had to pick my preferences;

1. Champions League. Win a trophy and qualify for the CL and nobody can argue we aren't on a major upward trajectory. Will allow us to aim for our top transfer targets in the summer, plus massively increases our chances of keeping any players we want to keep.

2. Conference League. Huge opportunity to win a second trophy. Should be able to progress deep into the competition without relying on our first XI and therefore maintain a strong League and domestic cup campaign.

3. Europa League. Less chance of winning it than Conference League, considerably less money than the Champions League. Absolutely would not turn it down but I put it third behind the prestige of the CL and the relatively higher chance of winning the Conference League.

Assuming 5th is UCL, we really need to be taking advantage of that.  Our run to the end of the season is reasonably favourable so we've got an massive opportunity to do it.

I really don't want to get to the end of the season and see Bournemouth/Brighton/Fulham finishing anywhere above us and sneaking a UCL or Europa spot, that would be frustrating.

We will be favourites for 7 of the last 10 games i reckon, the 3 we won't be are Brighton villa and arsenal away. All 3 have still got bigger fish to fry currently

Nee idea why I'm even thinking about this really

Preferences I would agree with but which one would we make the most dough for PSR reasons, I.e. would a further progression in theEurope League as opposed to chucked out in first round of Champs League, be better.

There should be less pressure now after this title. Even more importantly proper feel good factor and momentum and even more hunger. Massive! What a day the 16th of mars 2025! Over the moon!

Really unsure how the rest of the season is going to play out. I want to believe we're going to ride an incredible wave of momentum and finish top 5 comfortably. Our recent patchiness in the league may be down to the final and just like 2022/23 we may take off from here. But it wouldn't be altogether shocking if our season just peaked and we find it difficult to be switched on for 10 more games (and so be it if that's what happens).

Never been so happy about an international break.

If we get CL qualification then it’s the clubs best season since 1927.

10 huge games. If we get CL then nee cunt is leaving and everyone will want to come.

I think avoiding Europe also helped us with keeping a few more players fit for the league and the Carabao.

An unwelcome distraction, could have had a bearing on the efforts for CL, who knows. I wasn't arsed about winning it and I'm certainly not, now
