The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)

Recommended Posts

Newcastle-Brentford

Leicester-Newcastle

Newcastle-Man Utd

Newcastle-Crystal Palace

Aston Villa-Newcastle

Newcastle-Ipswich

Brighton-Newcastle

Newcastle-Chelsea

Arsenal-Newcastle

Newcastle-Everton

The fixtures are certainly there for 4th/5th. Plenty of teams will be on the beach or playing for nothing.

I imagine we’re favourites to win it already and I’ve no idea who else will be in it yet.

An optimistic 15 points there. Beat Brentford, Leicester, Palace, Ipswich. Draws v. Manure, Chelsea and Everton. Nothing expected against Villa, Brighton and Arsenal

I want UCL because it's the prestige (and annoyingly the money in modern day PSR :( ), but the Europa Conference has such a random collection of sides, it gives opportunity for some unique away days, and something for us to still be playing for come mid April because we should go all the way in it.

21-22: Pacos de Ferreria (Play Off), Rennes, Mura, Vitesse (Out in groups, Spurs :D )

21-22: Randers, Rennes, PSV, Roma (SF)

22-23: Viborg (Play Off), FCSB, Silkborg, Anderlecht, AEK Larnaca, Gent, AZ, Fiorentina (Final)

23-24: Hibernan (Play Off), Legia Warsaw, Zrinjski Mostar, AZ, Ajax, Lille, Olympiacos (SF)

24-25: Servette (Play Off), Gent, Panithinakos, Noah (lol), 1. FC Heidenham, Astana, Shamrock Rovers, Copenhagen, Legia Warsaw (Rapid Vienna / Djurgarden SF, then likely Betis/Fiorentina in final)

Chelsea run an absolute joke.

The European dynamic has completely changed, before the weekend there was an unusually large chasing pack that meant that even a place in a lesser European competition would be highly competitive.

the likes of Fulham and Brighton wanted a Liverpool win yesterday. Instead we won and took a European place that is no longer available to the chasing pack.

albeit with a difference in prize money, we don’t have to look over our shoulder any more, we can only go so far backwards. We can just focus now on getting as high up the table as possible, and if we don’t manage to well that is fine.

Still top 4 I believe, because the 5th place isn’t confirmed yet.

It must be about 99%?

Our run is quite nice, hopefully Arsenal make it to the CL final and put of their kids against us. Villa is a tough game but they have PSG 5 days before.

While obviously I still want Champions League, the chance to add more silverware by winning the Europa Conference cup is now looking decidely inviting.

I'd back us to win the Europa too tbh, we would be the best team along with Lloyd Kellys Juve?

Agree with the posters about the Europa League. That would be a great competition to have a real go at and some fun sides. whereas realistically in the CL you might get some great games but ultimately are only in it to make up the numbers, until Real inevitably win it.

However the money and the players desire for CL football mean that has to be the target.

I’d be a bit disappointed with the Conference.

It think it would take English teams losing all their games from now on, and the Italians winning as many games as possible, including potentially winning each cup competition.

I think 1 English club win in any competition will confirm it now.

They’ve been shit with him.

Theuve only beaten Leicester, Southampton, West Ham, Wolves all at home since the middle of December.
lost to Fulham, Ipswich, City, Brighton, Villa and Arsenal.

draws to Everton, Palace, Bournemouth.

Not beaten a team above 16th since a 2-1 victory over Brentford in the middle of December.
