Does his upturn in form, automatically means he starts?

 

For me it is a firm no. Barnes has been clsss so keep the completion healthy. 

 

Hope Howe does not revert to form and select him all the time.

Yes, we know he struggles with consistency and the mental side of the game.

Reading in the match thread from people that are at the games, it sounds like it's the same there as well.

 

One thing I know for certain, is that I will never again have an issue with a player that makes a fuss about wanting to go elsewhere once things are going well for them and there's interest.

 

A lot of fans aren't very loyal or supportive at all, when a player is struggling, but will demand it from the players when it suits them. It's farcical.

I think Barnes deserves the nod on Wednesday against Leverkusen. He has been a lot more consistent and effective than Gordon.

There's a balance to be struck, but yes there's truth in this. A lot of our supporters are arseholes.

He didn't seem to be cutting inside so much, quite a few times he was rinsing the fullback on the outside and off down the line which was decent. Seemed a lot more aggressive in his running and play too.

I think should start both Barnes and Gordon vs Leverkusen and Sunderland. Probably Barnes on the right. Sub Barnes off when he gets tired. Gordon had his rest recently and he should be able to play 90 minutes for both games if needed.
