I don't think he's having a dig.

I'm with you on that, I didn't interpret it as a dig. He just forgot to mention the part about the crowd being shaky because we know from past experience that this team is incapable of holding onto a lead

Its fair enough, but hes handing the problem over to the fans.

It's a fair interpretation, but it doesn't read like that to me, more that the crowd naturally become nervous as a result of the team's actions.

It’s not Pardew levels, but probably trying to say the players feel it

Looks like you got it wrong.

Doubt a local journo would lie about it like.

Still, feel free to stop sharing absolute bilge from that shithole. Including fucking hilarious AI images of Howe's face superimposed into Jeffrey Epstein.

17 goals and now scoring in open play

And he would be well into the 20's if he had played cf all year.

He has divided the fan base since day 1 but he is the least of our problems this season.

Different player since he’s been moved to the central position, credit to him

Thought he took that goal really well, had me thinking he's a striker for a second. Then I saw the other chances and thought nah.

Not the worst of our lot today but faded badly.

Had a shaky start to rhe season and looked lacklustre at times and questionable effort but since he's been asked to play that CF position I can't say a bad word about him, he's leaving everything on the pitch, chasing everything down, putting himself about and carrying the team for goals, the very least of our problems and if we had 11 players with his commitment over the last few months we'd be in the CL places.

What he said after the game yesterday stood out to me as him admitting the team weren't good enough, understanding the crowd get uneasy because what happens is inevitable, it's a known problem that hasn't been fixed and it's the players fault for not sorting it out. Nothing wrong in what was said at all, taking accountability and showing leadership.

I've given him pelters in the past and rightly so, but he deserves praise for his attitude and application recently.

To be fair I think we should really consider giving him permanent ST position if we won’t change our playstyle next season.

It's funny you say that because I thought the opposite re the chances, he's only really got the one finish/part of the goal to aim for when he cuts in off the left and doesn't have Barnes' quality from that area but if he's central he can have a bit more variety, although he's obviously far from the finished article when it comes to finishing wherever he plays

I think he's a poor finisher generally and really wouldn't want him playing up front long term. He's got pace but that's about it, we'd basically be looking ourselves into a transitional style (which is fine but we might as well go get a striker who offers us more than just pace it that's the case).

Not being the finished article is something often repeated but how much more improvement are we expecting out of players who are 24? For me they are practically the finished article at that age with only minor polishing left.

I do think you can "learn" to finish at that age, but whether he's able to do it, already has a baseline instinct for finishing (my biggest doubt), and whether we can afford to wait and see if he learns is another matter.

If he could keep the ball down he'd have had a hat trick yesterday.

But he can't, and again proves he's not the top player he thinks he is.

His finish for the opener was great, but those two he skied were criminal. He muffed them both in exactly the same way as well.

I don't think they were criminal personally, he does need to be hitting the target mind. Give the keeper something to do.

He had time to set himself and take aim. Usually you would curl those into the far corner but both shots were ballooned over the middle of the crossbar.
