Wouldn't play him against Everton in the form he's in. Last thing we need is him doubling that poor form up with Main Character Syndrome, as he has done in that fixture in the past.

100% - Barnes has to start on the left / Murph on the right.

Going to seem like a knee jerk based on this shit performance. But I’ve been complaining about him most this season.

Had an upturn in form after his new deal and had a good spell of 8-9 games off the top of my head. But he’s not looked like a player valued at £80m or whatever and one of our top earners.

I find him really frustrating to watch most weeks.

Seems he did the same at Everton as well which is why they all hate him.

Goes missing too often.

Absolutely sick of him going down all the time as well.

His head-loss ahead of the cup final was shambolic as well.

The manager, a senior player or coach at the club needs to have a word with him, because he can’t go into next season with the same petulant attitude that he has had this season.

Yeah short sighted merchants. Same people that jumped on his back after he didn't immediately start scoring when he signed.

Not necessarily. I don't think folk are saying he's shite, just that he needs to get his head out his arse and show the same attitude as previous seasons (and not the attitude he had when he first arrived - which he is now displaying again).

I agree with most here. Massive attitude change from last season for the worse. That's the first thing he needs to sort out.

He was responsible for the goal but as I said in the match thread he was still our biggest threat and put in a few quality balls that someone should have been on the end of.

Think the criticism of him is very OTT

I'll be honest, I can't say I've ever liked his body language.

It's not a case of sell him etc but he needs brought back down to earth.

Did he want a move in January or something because since then he's been poor. its a shame

Why does a players form have to do with interest elsewhere?

He'd do himself a few favours by not falling to the ground every second and making good decisions in the final third.

I absolutely believe the head turning rumours - he's been dodgy for quite a while for me personally. Barnes is completely ineffective on the right - I suspect he's going to be pissed off sooner or later. Dropping Barnes to RW when him and Tino had a fantastic understanding was really poor.

I get the feeling he thinks he's better than he is. Maybe as far as thinking he is better than Newcastle.

Yep. Ambition is fantastic, provided you earn that level of ambition.

Doubt it since he signed a new contract end of October

The guy is most likely just not in form at the moment. Main responsiblity lies with Howe having the guts to bench him if he isn't showing any improvements in traning up until the Everton game. Would love to see the direct, hard working goal threat of last season next sunday. This version that just half commits to pressing, doesn't track back, misses easy passes, can't control the ball, doubles down on dives by staying down feigning injury rather than getting up and chasing back if he doesn't get the free kick he was after doesn't offer us anything.

Playing shite and being shite are two different things.

He does look like he's half arsing it at the moment, hoping it's just a fitness thing.
