England’s Anthony Gordon

Recommended Posts

All bullshit, he was only talking on tv about how he’d love Guehi at Newcastle when someone said there was a rumour we were in for him. Like that was literally in the last 7-10 days.

How turned can his head have been? Now am sure the news of Liverpool’s opportunistic enquiry would have reached him but what also would have reached him is the lowball offer and how they didn’t think he was worth 100m or whatever mental figure we tried to scare them off with.

Why go somewhere that you’re not valued, even if it is your “boyhood club”?

I doubt his head's a mess, he'll be focused on England and he's matured a lot since Everton.

That said, watching him on the Overlap and his sheer naked ambition to get to the very top I don't expect any sentimentality at all from him if he gets a chance to go to a Champions League perennial.

I mean for 100M we could have a lot of options. I'm not sure I believe any of it so let's see what happens after the Euros.

His Mrs wants to move said it a few weeks ago.  Also told she was friendly with half Everton’s youth team before settling on Gordon.  All this is obviously alleged

FFS man, wind it in.

Is Gordon really wanting out? Reports that “his head is a mess” just don’t tally with the type of person he comes across as in interviews. He’s very focused, doesn’t let things bother him. The press have been persistent with this line the last days.

Load of bollocks, me thinks.

Remember how he behaved when we got him? It's entirely possible, especially as Liverpool are his boyhood club.

Everton fans were chasing him through the street in his car to be fair  Can see why he wanted out of that mess.

His head could be a mess from watching a bunch of shambling mongs wander around as he sits on the bench for the last couple of weeks.  But Newcastle United have nothing to do with that.

If Liverpool were wanting to spend £100m+ on a forward I think they’d be looking elsewhere tbh. As much as I think Gordon is great, there’s much better value than that about. You could get Williams or Kvara for about £75m.

When we get CL next season none of this will matter. Every player would like to come to us!

If you could chose. What Liverpool player would you get? For me, Alisson would be perfect :bluestar:

I think the appointments of Hughes etc won’t have them buying the already established expensive players. Think they’ll be back to taking punts on those just below the cusp but with high ceilings like Mane, Firmino et al.

Get what you mean, but Gordon is still in that category. Guy just below cusp, but all indications from past 12 months suggest he’s about to take that next step and be the star left winger who embraces the big occasions.

To be clear I think we should tell Liverpool to stick it. But if he was indeed on a short term contract, for amortisation purposes that would mean there's more profit if we were to sell now (than if he were on a long term contract).

~70million additional psr profit wiggle room would mean a very busy summer for mitchell. Hope it's all a non-issue though and AG stays put

How much would he go for with 1 good season under his belt? 60-70m? Maybe 80m?
