Turnbull2000
May as well just fucking pack it in trying to compete. Which is what the rules are designed to do anyway.

Pablo
Propaganda is ffp bought in to stop clubs overspending. Stops Newcastle, Everton, Forest and Villa competing. Cartel reality, financial positions of Chelsea, Man U and Tottenham doesn’t matter and they can continue running at massive losses with crazy debt. Wolfcastle
The cartel. Locked out big ambitious clubs. Also rans and the clubs married to yo-yo-ing All stuck on average to where they were when the music stopped forever and fans paying ever rising ticket prices for the privilege under the illusion its needed to maintain status or go to the next level. Its the perfect scam.

TheBrownBottle
Yes, it’s a mess, yes the rules are fucking ridiculous and there to ensconce the status quo. But we knew that already, we know the rules - it’s why last summer wasn’t just a case of signing a couple of duds but the manager ‘didn’t get his first choices’. It was gross professional negligence and has likely set us back years. The incompetence that led to this is incredible.

The only thing they're designed to improve is the security of the richest clubs from being threatened. Ever. If your club wasn't in the cartel in 2021 then you're fucked and won't be allowed to break into it and compete, every other club is shut down from here on in - the end. I'd even suggest Spurs could drop a league and still retake their place in the elite before Newcastle, Villa, Everton, Forest or any other fucker does so. It's a complete stitch up and it passed easily once the Saudis got their takeover. Rules changed overnight -absolute horseshit but there was barely any criticism or even comment on it at the time. Spurs’ income will still dwarf ours and Villas next season even if they are in the second division. We’re not gaining on them in any meaningful sense. HayDen Traces
North American sports seems to get this right far better than European footy. At least they give their members more equal power to stop teams from dominating. Makes dynasties like the Bulls, Patriots etc all the more impressive. It's a complete stitch up and it passed easily once the Saudis got their takeover. Rules changed overnight -absolute horseshit but there was barely any criticism or even comment on it at the time. The Premier League from the very start was designed to do exactly this. Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs, Liverpool, and Everton all thought that they had the right to more money. Initially they didn’t even want relegation, they literally wanted a split from English football. People forget that they were forced to accept relegation even back then. They never anticipated a Chelsea happening, then when it did they never anticipated anyone having any more money again, then Man City happened. They both quickly established fanbases which meant there were more eyes on the league, which meant it was impossible to stop them. 3 years before our takeover came to light, it had been discussed in Premier League meetings how state nations, namely Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait were all looking at buying Premier League clubs. They thought it was a bid for Man Utd, Arsenal, or Spurs to either take them back where they believe they belong, or to give Spurs that last boost that they needed. Spurs were even in takeover discussions with PIF before they opted for us. They never thought that they would buy us instead, hence why there was a scramble to change the rules afterwards. If you notice, SCR has changed the rules to their benefit again, now infrastructure spending in total (including interest on loans) is exempt. You know why this is done don’t you? It’s because Man Utd want to spend £2bn or more on a new fuck off monster of a stadium. Arsenal want to add another 20k seats, will pay a fortune to do so (more than the Emirates cost in the first place), and need to pay the TFL to expand 3 nearby stations. Chelsea are scrambling to find a solution for a new stadium and that’s going to cost them a fucking fortune. Liverpool sooner or later will need a new stadium or an Anfield rebuild. None of them have owners who will put their hands in their pockets to pay for it themselves, so they need to have that ability for these clubs to loan the money. It’s the American model that the mostly US owners are looking for - US sports are the embodiment of the ‘closed shop’. It’s a bloody awful model.
