It's now clear the rules need to be completely re-written in order to allow ambition AND support clubs from dodgy owners. It's not just about stamping our feet and wanting to spend billions immediately, it's got to protect clubs from shit owners using clubs as a cashpoint, there has to be that balance Made us out to be the bogey man while the real bogey men hid behind their nefarious rules. There's definitely a need to protect clubs from dodgy owners and/or overspending but the current rules are falling somewhat short. It's the hope that kills you but at least we've got discussion. Adam Posted April 4 Share Posted April 4 As much as American sports is a closed shop, at least all the teams there play by the same rules. The new UEFA rules where X% of your revenue can be spent on wages/transfers is just a salary cap by another name. However everyone is working with a different cap, having a league or UEFA limit would be a start. Of course teams that generate huge revenues (Real, Man U etc), might see it as limiting their spending so you'd have to balance against that. NDM knows. We've been working like traitors in the background sow seeds and twisting ears to get teams and media to fight back. With media support the teams wronged feel like they have public support and ready to blow things up in public. The PL don't want that. The no agreement to the efl deal now has efl teams in board as they want more money but the PL teams can't afford it as thry can't spend to keep up. It's all worked out very nicely for us.
