People going on about him growing into his frame etc, he looks big and strong enough to me, 3 years, more like 9 months

Plus we don't want his torso getting so big that it starts to lose its deceptiveness.

He was fine (or even good considering his age) but some of the praise seems a bit over the top. He was one of the worst for just giving the ball back to PSG. To be fair he often didn't really have options due to lack of movement and even our best players were guilty of that but he didn't look that confident in possession during the second half. He did fine all things considered but it's a long road even just to displace Longstaff in this squad but he has age on his side.

Lewis Miley looks better and more confident with each game.

This champions league effort has just secured his squad regularity for this season and who knows where that can take him.

One step at a time though but he's definitely in the driving seat to regularly stake his claim.

From the Guardian:

Man of the Match: You couldn’t fault anyone in a Newcastle shirt, as all 11 players excelled in a superb collective effort. Lewis Miley deserves particular kudos, however, for an astonishingly mature performance in midfield that belied his 17 years.

But even when Mbappé got away from him Miley was there, like the Bond girl smashing the bad guy in the face with her handbag

Noticed a couple of times, at least, he sent a decent pass into space that wasn't read by his colleagues. 1st half, in particular, he received the ball over our right midfield under pressure, turned and fired the ball into their half. Neither Isak, who it was meant for, or Gordon reacted in time. Would've been clean through.

Yes, that touch/movement was so good, that's the kind of thing that makes you realise he can become a top player

He can be a star for us this lad.

He's 17 and has only played in a handful of games. To start away at PSG in the Champion's league, one of the biggest games in Newcastle's recent history, and not look out of place is ridiculous really.

It's testament to his talent and also how good the coaching is at the club now.

So good again, even the mistakes he made were understandable and seemed to me like Isak maybe underestimating Miley's ability to play balls in behind. There were a couple of occasions he played some lovely balls in behind but Isak wanted it short. Hard to know who's at fault in those situations, but the balls themselves made sense.

Hilarious how non-plussed he seemed during the CL anthem. Just fidgeting about, then I saw this

Couldn't look less impressed.

He clearly appears to just take everything in his stride; certainly doesn't look overawed or nervous. It's absolutely crackers that we had an academy lad starting that game.

Was impressed with his performance too. His touch and passing isn't there yet, but off the ball he was terrific. So intelligent, composed, and his timing of tackles and blocks was perfect. Never once lost concentration or discipline or got lured into an early tackle.

Seems a given that he'll be a star at this point.

If Miley can play the way he did the last two games every game, and Sean can't recapture that early season form he had, you might be seeing more Miley than you think

He was as good as big Joe. Which is a massive compliment.
