  1. 1. Would you want a large singing/standing section at St James' Park?

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder and I would want to be a part of it

    • Yes. I'm an existing season ticket holder but wouldn't want to be part of it, but I would move to a seat somewhere else if the singing section was to be where I currently sit....as long as I was happy with the new seat.

    • No. The atmosphere is fine as it is.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want one in the singing section.

    • Yes. I'm just a member at the moment but would want a season ticket in a non-singing section. But a singing section needs to happen to let people who want to sing be together

The boos at FT were a disgrace. Everyone doing that can fuck off and never come back but they'll be in exactly the same seat against Arsenal.

If anyone pays to watch they have every right to cheer, be ambivalent or if they choose to - boo.

Anyone who pays to go to games and/or puts money into the club can choose to highlight how fucking ridiculous it is to boo a result like that.  When everything is taken into consideration I am in agreement with Sima. Fuck those cunts.

And as a paying customer I have every right to criticise them.

Exactly. Any fans booing the performance yesterday has the right to do so, as much as other fans have the right to state how fucking dumb said booing is.

I believe they call that the circle of life or something.

I think @Whitley mag mentioned this before but there is far less young lads grouped together or go to a match full of drink wanting a sing song, reality is majority of make up at football grounds are middle aged to elderly fans/families etc.

You notice it in the lower leagues, you can get 400 lads together if you want as alot of grounds are never at capacity. If you were to shift even 800 fans and put some young lads In leazes level 4 you would see a vast improvement in that stand.

Watching Liverpool yesterday it's depressing how bad football in England has become, the lack of passion is shite.

From reading the mag article linked above, you would think every match pre-Ashley had a brilliant atmosphere. It most definitely wasn’t. There were many homes games back then that had similar atmospheres Saturday.

I’m all for supporting ideas on how to improve the atmosphere. But you can’t do that by alienating those that do still attend.

I find it so weird that people make the sound of booing. Sound like an idiot and something children do. Grumble, swear, moan (all natural sounds) but booing is so strange and unnatural.

Can’t beat it when it’s aimed at the opposition or ref tbh. Sounds brilliant I then stadium and always gets the fans up for the game.

Each to their own I guess.

Even aways are a lot poorer now - even PSG away in CL where you allegedly needed 100+ points but it was a different crowd to other games of that difficulty on tickets (thinking Zulte Waregem away when we only got 650 tickets due to safety concerns)

And in turn PSG was a hell of a lot better than the away support in Milan and Dortmund which was woeful.

Stadium seemed at least a quarter empty during a really long injury time where we had the opposition completely pinned back and had a sequence of set pieces. I'd find it depressing if I hadn't totally expected it.

There were some boos at FT too, though not loads. Disgraceful behaviour from anyone doing that; those players owe that home crowd absolutely fuck all. We've been immense at SJP for nearly three years solid.

Despite the negatives I thought the atmosphere in general was decent and I wasn't thinking at any point (during the bulk of the game) that the players weren't being supported. The crowd reacted to the flow of the game; getting up for it and vociferous during our dominant spells/reacting to their time-wasting, and getting flatter when the team stalled.

I'm glad this has been mentioned here. Thought I might have imagined it, nobody else I spoke to afterwards aeemed to have heard it. Was a minority obviously but definitely audible.

Yeh I'll agree with this as well like

I've had a season ticket since about 2005 when I was 16. Used to share one then. It was in the middle leazes. It wasn't that uncommon not to hear anyone sing for a whole game then. It wasn't til I moved to level 7 did I see a constant atmosphere anywhere in the ground

Said it plenty on here but people used to look down their noses at the "toon ultras" but we haven't even got 3 thousand likeminded fans like that now.

Atmospheres are just shite across the board now. The modern day football attending fan is changing, it's shite but it is what it is now. It's not just us.

Forest used to be a good atmosphere, Monday night game tonight, and it's shite. There's no stadium in the prem anymore that has a good atmosphere any more. Few minutes here and there it gets loud, places like Villa Park, but then it dies down.

I think modern football has played a part in it too, premier league is technically better than it was, but there's no where near as much excitement. The majority of games are boring as fuck. Fans too concerned with recording stuff too, saying they were there, getting the tik tok views, kids there with their pathetic signs asking fro a shirt.

Modern football is shite basically.

I didn’t hear any booing towards our players on Saturday fwiw. Half time the booing started when the ref got closer to the tunnel. None of it was aimed at our lads imo.

definite booing af full time.

yep it's noticeable on a weekly basis now some fans not even getting up and applauding a goal, some sit smiling with their phones out. Completely alien to me

I was sat in between 2 couples in the Leazes and honestly not one word of encouragement, no reaction to chances, tackles, poor decisions etc. I mean I’m more vocal watching the game in the house.

I’m probably on the other end of spectrum and abit too loud sometimes and each their own etc but I genuinely don’t understand why you’re there if you’re going to be sat there with a face like thunder and can’t even be arsed to try and encourage the lads. Makes absolutely zero sense to me.

aye we've all been there, plonked in the quiet coach. It never used to cross my mind approaching a game but now on the rare occasion I do bag a ticket, I'm desperate to be around some radgies

After the Dortmund game last year realised I just don’t enjoy this anymore, a football match without any atmosphere is a soulless experience especially in a big stadium.

It does beg the question with these people who just turn up and don’t show any emotion, or reaction are they actually enjoying it, I think the whole experience is very questionable at the minute, without any atmosphere the appeal might just start wearing off for the day trippers.

It seems to be a league wide issue. It's multifaceted; games nowadays needing the right circumstances for a crowd to be up for it a la kick off day and time, pattern of the game, refereeing of the game etc. The increase of corporatisation of stadia, increasing ticket prices: a lot of those who'd be amongst a hypothetical new Toon Ultras group are now priced out. It's £45 for a ticket in Level 7 now against non big 6 opposition and even more expensive in the rest of the ground. Helps PSR though, I've heard.

Sat in the gallowgate for the Brighton game and fucking hell get me back in the east stand.

Mates seat was two seats away so asked if they minded moving down one seat.  " Nah these are our season ticket seats" eventually they moved cos I was very awkward and they said "you didn't explain properly"

These season ticket holders didn't sing, fucked off for a bit after 25 min and said Brighton game was worst ever see. Us play apparently.

3 mid 20s kids behind me didn't not shut fuck up all game. But never singing.

Covering topics like gays or someone telling a gay guy to fuck off.

Bruno only being good first half.

Murphy is shit

Need to sack Howe

We are going down if lose next two games

Need sign Davis from Ipswich because he had 50 assists in championship and stats like that it dont matter if is the champ.

Just off top my head.
