Geogaddi Posted yesterday at 07:45 Share Posted yesterday at 07:45 Yeah it was absolutely shocking last night literally no signing at all pretty much from the first minute, really hope Wembley isn't the same .
Elliottman Posted yesterday at 08:02 Share Posted yesterday at 08:02 Had the pleasure of sitting in the home end last night right underneath the away end and genuinely didn’t know if there were any of our lot in. Once all I night I remember hearing a 30 second spell and that was it. What the fuck happened? Was only last season they were being called the best in the country.

Only season ticket holders can attend away games now so you've got the same pool of aging people going away now. They won't sell any new season tickets so there's no fresh blood getting a chance to go. Just going to be a downward spiral.  Just been reading Keith Barretts rant about it on Facebook there. He's bang on, as usual. What Facebook group is that?  In defence of our fans there last night, hardly a single person on here expected nothing less than another Anfield surrender so it’s not really surprising that our support at the match might have felt the same.

Lush Vlad Posted yesterday at 08:21 Share Posted yesterday at 08:21 (edited) There have been some crap away performances. So sort of makes sense, I guess. But I know plenty saying they’ve been getting worse and they often sound shit on TV.  Only been to a couple. Chelsea was crap and London away ends are often a mixed bag. Ipswich was a proper old school away end. Even before the game in the pub and in the concourse it had a different feel. Lots of chants from years gone by, too. Perhaps the time of year and the long boozy journey on a Saturday 3pm helped.  I’m one of the ones now locked out. Been going on and off with my mate since I was 16 using one of his family ST’s. So I’m probably biased  Edited yesterday at 08:22 by Lush Vlad

NUFC91 Posted yesterday at 08:28 Share Posted yesterday at 08:28 Think it's becoming more Trendy to go away now for a lot of clubs. Leeds fans were horrendous also at Sheff united, not one song until they scored the other night. Â I just wonder what they'll do with the loyality scheme moving forward... Interpolic Posted yesterday at 09:57 Share Posted yesterday at 09:57 (edited) It makes perfect sense that this is happening with the tight ticket criteria and the clampdown on IDs etc. I went to quite a few aways in the 2010s in particular and I never bought a ticket from the club or even knew where the ticket came from.  Our group was young, drunk and loud, and I'd imagine there were plenty in the exact same scenario. Closing off the sale/attendance of literally everything to an ageing and likely entitled group of spectators (rather than supporters) is clearly going to lead to this.  I'm not saying all STHs are llke that and there'll still be plenty going who are very vocal in their support but gatekeeping tickets this way is so disappointing. Much like the cup final, why can't a certain percentage of tickets be sold to active members? Why is the system so geared towards "the rich getting richer" in terms of season tickets, points etc? Edited yesterday at 09:59 by Interpolic
Dr.Spaceman Posted yesterday at 10:54 Share Posted yesterday at 10:54 (edited) I sort of agree, but I noticed loads of kids at Man City. It's not just an old person problem. I just think the fight is being sucked out of a lot of folk and when you go to places like Man City, Liverpool etc you see first-hand the gulf between us and them. Marmoush scoring a hat-trick and a lot of people's first thought isn't about our shite defending or lack of a midfield, you could literally hear mutterings of "Well they were allowed to spend 100 million in January". Back in the day it was nowhere near as prevalent, even in the dark days of Ashley you only really felt 2 or 3 windows away from fixing it. It feels like we're staring into a black hole at the moment. Then we did get a good manager and added a few purples and look what happened? These last few windows have popped the tyres on the bus tho
Chicken Dancer Posted yesterday at 11:24 Share Posted yesterday at 11:24 I could be wrong but I do genuinely believe we lost a fairly vocal home & away element of our support in the summer of 2019 when they walked alongside Benitez.  Obviously the way the tickets are issued both home and away play a massive part (probably the main part). I only get to about 4 or 5 a season now (I done 18/23 in 16/17!) and there's definitely a different 'feel' about the away ends these days. By that I mean the type of people I see in the away ends as well as the support levels. Definitely much, much worse.  I got told to sit down or move by a fellow fan in the San Siro ffs  Coppers basically told us to stand anywhere!  I've gave my Wembley ticket to my old man which was always the plan, but I can't see it being any different to 2023. HaydnNUFC Posted yesterday at 11:29 Share Posted yesterday at 11:29 Post takeover, atmospheres home and away in 2021-22 and 2022-23 were night and day compared to now. The only thing that’s changed since then is ticketing. Part of that is expectation but it’s no coincidence.  Some of the best home league atmospheres that I can remember were in 2021-22; Man Utd, Everton, Leicester & Arsenal. Man City, Man Utd, Villa, Brighton in 2022-23. Good away ends in both seasons. Now we’ll get probably one good home atmosphere a season and regularly poor away ends. We always used to make a good noise at Anfield, think the new away end with higher roof doesn’t help, but a lot of people say the Anfield atmosphere is shite, however they make far more noise than we do and have swathes of people standing for 90 min.  Our support is pitiful at the moment and not really sure there’s any fix, I agree with Keith we’ve lost our identity of local songs and the current bunch are the worse in clubs history bar none.
