Great atmosphere in a packed little stadium. Hearts won so it was a good day for my pals.
 

I knew about the Catholic / Protestant allegiance for each club but didn’t know there were sectarian songs that are banned in the grounds, so they sing them before / after but not when they’re in the stadium.

I think they've trialled pre match drink in some grounds lately. This was at St Mirren before Xmas.

I didn’t notice it when I went. We had a couple of pints pre-game, then went out to a few boozers after.  
 

If it means less people heading off to guzzle peeve on the concourse at 35 mins and then reappearing at 50 mins then I’m all for it.

It's been partially lifted. I know Aberdeen were allowed to sell alcohol in the concourse of the Richard Donald stand earlier this season.

As mentioned previously away ends are now dependant on the score/result rather than just supporting the team full stop like it used to be.

I really don't like our away fans singing "how shit must you be, we're winning away". Heard it at Everton too. 

 

Pros - you get to think you're funny singing a chant that fans of actually shit teams sing

 

Cons - it's not funny, it probably makes the players feel like shit, it's not support

 

Probs not as deep as that but aye it annoys me.

Yeah I agree. Just thought I was being a miserable sod but it made my skin crawl when it was sung at Everton and again last night.

Mancs continued singing at SJP last season when they were being hammered. Helps when you’ve got some decent songs, ours are shite if last night was anything to go by.

Go back couple a year ago and we could be getting well beat and we'd sing "we still follow united" demographic has massively changed since ticketing changes

I think becoming good/having a successful few years hasn’t helped either, but aye ticketing is the main issue. 
 

The atmosphere at St James’ in the first year or two post-takeover is miles better than it is now, so I think it’s a combination of ballots/ticketing and expectation levels being raised.

I noted in the match thread how brilliant the away fans sounded. Mental that it wasn't that good after all.

Ballots + ticket price increases have killed the atmosphere at SJP.

 

No longer do the ones who want to be there the most get into the ground, it's now names out of a hat so to speak. I've seen myself faking doctors and dentist appointments so I could nip away from work at 9.30 in the morning and get back home in time to get my 10 different browsers set up to maximise my chances! Now I've got exactly the same chance as someone who might not even support NUFC but buys a membership cos they fancy trying for a specific match. Charging £58 to sit behind the goals and £75-£97 for a seat along the sides in the East or Milburn Stands also means you aren't really going to attract the vocal radge type to games anymore.
