Minhosa
Shite tonight. This felt so different to just a mere couple of years ago. Honestly feel like entitlement has crept in. Utter dogshit lately. If folks can’t get up for a cup semi final there’s no hope.
bobbydazzla
Back of Leazes East Corner was fine. Couldn't really tell what the rest of ground was like, which maybe says a lot. Overall the feeling and noise in and outside the ground was a world away from the incredible excitement and hullabaloo of the Arsenal semi. Maybe people can’t be arsed to get behind the team for a semi final unless the club tells them beforehand via email and social media that they should be arsed to get behind the team because it’s a semi final. Danh1
Aye the corner was very good - thought City fans were better than most in fairness. They have some good songs, far too many lyrics and words for our lot to sing in unison.

kenlau88210
i think the atmosphere at the Strawberry Corner was very good tonight, especially during the first half. Mind, tonight was only my 10th or 11th time at the stadium, so I can't really compare with the previous big matches. This time I sat at the Gallowgate End, fairly close to the corner. Atmosphere wise, I really enjoyed it.
Chicken Dancer
Definitely a sense of entitlement above much else. Compare tonight to the Leicester quarter final in 22/23 and it’s chalk and cheese. Mind I do think the energy that team played with had such a positive influence on the atmosphere.
Wallsendmag
Never thought I'd day this but I'm genuinely happy that I decided to simply stop going a couple of months back because I don't want to be part of that crowd any more. I'll be there next Wednesday, because of the opposition, and that's me done for the season. Given the size of yesterday's match, a home Cup Semi Final. Only the 3rd we've ever played in our entire history, that was probably an all time low for the SJP crowd. A flat atmosphere for a run of the mill league game is one thing but when it's happening for a Semi Final it's a major issue.
Whitley mag
Brighton in the FA cup last season was equally as depressing and poor. Can’t even make the excuse it’s a £20 Cup crowd because season ticket holders will have made up the majority of it.

The east stand, literally never join in despite being right beside the corner. We need another standing area with people who want to sing otherwise it'll be the same all the time
bobbydazzla
As I said previously, I was in back of Leazers East Corner Couldn’t hear anything from Strawberry Corner Couldn’t hear anything from the away fans Couldn’t even see the away fans Only time I heard the away fans was walking back towards Trent House after the match when they were very loud and clear with their songs travelling over the top of East Stand The design of SJP really is incredibly shite for acoustics Edited January 14 by bobbydazzla

Aye it was but that was a Sunday early kick off with a very small away following. 13.30 kick offs on a Sunday are never any good. This was a Cup Semi Final under the lights ffs and nobody could be arsed! Thise players had just come off the back of 2 epic games which would have left them drained. They needed the energy of the home crowd last night to feed off and there was absolutely nothing coming from the stands at all. It was pitiful. There's not another stadium in the UK that for a Cup Semi Final you've got the fans sat there on their hands in all 4 stands as was the case yesterday. Stamford Bridge isn't exactly what it used to be but look at what that'll be like tonight and compare the difference. I'll get stick for this but I'm not arsed. Your ST holders are your problem. I was surprised to read we have 35k of them this week. I didn't realise it was as high as that. I assumed 30k. This means that when you account for away fans, corporate, sponsors etc there's probably little over 10k going to members ballot. Not even going into how many of those 10k are ending up in the wrong hands, that's a separate argument, but around 80% of the home supporters are aged ST holders. Probably 80% of those add absolutely nothing at all to the atmosphere. I don't think there is a fix here. You can't change who goes to the match. You can move people around. You can put in rail seating. Ultimately it's still the same people in there though. As I say last night, given the magnitude of the fixture, was the night it hit rock bottom. bobbydazzla
Season Ticket culture at clubs with high demand for tickets, really has had a big negative impact on football fan culture and allowing wider access to football games. It’s just lead to the same faces, in the same seats, getting older and older with every season that passes. And those same people getting all the away tickets. At clubs that know they can sell out game by game, or get close to sell out, it adds absolutely nothing financially to have the majority of a stadium taken up by Season Tickets who are effectively blocking new blood from getting into the stands for decades. And I don’t know about other clubs policies on this, but our Season Tickets are now treated like family heirlooms, getting passed down to family or friends when nanna gets too old to go anymore. Which feels wrong to me. Edited January 14 by bobbydazzla
Elliottman
Sounded pretty good on TV I thought for the majority of the game. Once City scored it did seem to die down then there was a bit of resurgence.

Which feels wrong to me. It’s also some of the cunts who have them. Your description of the Porsche / Skiing wankers who belittled the lad trying to get songs going as a “day tripper” is symptomatic of too many status ST holders I’ve had the misfortune to be around in the ground. I’m now at the point where if I can’t get in the standing in the SE corner I’m reticent to go to be stuck next to some miserable sod getting their two hours away from the wife or there to share their social life exploits rather than get behind the lads. The decrepit East Standers and Gallowgate near pensioner moaners being two of the worst parts of the ground.
ramirez
The town felt dead before hand, I think there’s fatigue from fans due to four home games in ten days too but no excuse for last night. If the second leg was home and we were trailing by two I’d expect a better atmosphere than that.

Unless I’m in The Corner then most seats I’ve had are next to absolute whoppers, the clinically depressed or the silent majority. And I’ve been everywhere in the ground recently other than Milburn L7. Last night I was with a decent little crew, including a youngin of about 9 or 10 who was fully engaged in the match and properly supporting the team. Which warmed my cockles. But it’s a rarity to get a crew like that. Edited January 14 by bobbydazzla
The Prophet
Par for the course, combine working class lads and lasses being priced out with an unjustifiably entitled fan population and you're going to get a middle class audience expecting to be entertained. Aye you're right. It was only £20/£10 last night which prices most people in but then they can't suddenly access games they can afford. Generally speaking a huge amount of fans are priced out of going to the match these days and they can't suddenly decide to go on the very rare occasion that the tickets are affordable.
