The ten minutes before and as the players came out weren’t quite PSG levels but definitely got the blood flowing. Just shows it can still happen. One thing…. Weird goings on around me though. 20 minutes in, one of their players goes down. Loads of people start streaming out. Same thing happened just before 30 minutes. Don’t think I heard a single negative comment about any of our players. Was genuinely starting to wonder if someone (my money was on Tindall) had spiked the free pints with MDMA. Best thing about it was we could clearly hear the Strawberry corner from up there and when they start singing, Level 7 next to the away end instantly joined in and it made for a very loud "echo" type sound which was very impressive. No complaints at all today. Good noise throughout. The PSV end was absolutely shite. Don't think think they sang a single song 2nd half. Not much to sing about tbf! PSV were making some noise before the first goal but then pretty much nothing from 2-0 onwards. They know from up there they can't have much of an impact on the overall atmosphere when most of the ground is in full swing so they just stand back and watch. Got to say I've been in so many away ends all over England, and in Europe watching NUFC and PSV and tonight was up there. Most recently it absolutely pissed on Juventus, Arsenal and Liverpool I did with PSV last calendar year and Leverkusen last month with NUFC for outright noise. None of them came close. There's something to work on. It's certainly not the waste of time trying to work on the atmosphere as I was starting to suspect it would be. Better than the Gallic drone of PSG fans that never stopped but didn’t correspond to a thing that happened on the pitch. We didn’t really let PSV have any to sing about I suppose. Fyernoord in ‘02 came and sang in English the whole game including singing ‘small town in Sunderland’ at us Breda were very rowdy as well iirc.
