When I won the ballot and couldn’t make Man Utd after buying a ticket, I gave it back to the club to sell to other members. That’s what a real NUFC member does, not trying to profit off your fellow fans.

 

Some of the prices were crazy. Mine wasn't too bad. I paid £103 in the Leazes East corner. I was around 8 seats away from the East Stand which was £75 face value.

I agree people constantly using these sites feeds the problem. However I’ve got a ticket and putting myself in others shoes I can see the temptation due to lack of availability by normal means.

 

Also to defend this particular poster further I always got the impression they try as hard as anyone to buy officially and only buckled as we all knew it was going to be a game for the ages.

 

Hand the details over and see if they can garner some link to the original purchase and hopefully that will lead to more being available officially and you’ve done a good service for others in the long run.

Sadly, this is correct. 
 

Mr Qi Xiao will probably be part of fairly sophisticated touting operation, with multiple methods of accessing tickets.

 

Whilst I would never say it’s a waste of time reporting them, in reality it’s probably just going to be a minor inconvenience to them.

I'd literally explored every other avenue mate. This past week I've literally been texting everyone I can think off to see if they know of anything, spent god knows how many hours constantly refreshing my phone in the hope that a resale comes up. Absolutely nowt. For the first time in my life I was genuinely locked out of a home game.

 

Agonised over it for ages but I had to be there and sadly that was the only way. Was sad to see so many available and the fact is that it's so easy to do now that tickets are all electronic.

 

Would have been interesting to see how Mr Qi Xiao (if he's a real person) could have got a physical season card, or paper ticket to me.

It's clearly harder to tout paper tickets or physical cards as the transaction has to be done in person as opposed to digitally, but that's never happening now.

Maybe it should. Because I don’t see a way the club or police can realistically tackle this. In the end it means supporters getting ripped off. I was looking for resale tickets let’s like you, yesterday started in at number 72,000. How many of those are real people and how many are bots?

Facial recognition turnstiles will be standard by the end of the decade I imagine, Man City already have them but not in use (I believe they want to switch them on next season) and a couple of other clubs already have the tech set up for them too iirc

The replies to this suggest there was Liverpool fans all over the home end yesterday. Must admit there was none around where I was sat but noticed some commotion in the Leazes End when they scored their first goal and someone getting kicked out. So easy for away fans to get tickets in home areas now as well, even for the highest profile games.

Interesting that the assumption is that the Liverpool fan was in an ST seat

 

They might just have paid £40 for a membership and got lucky in the ballot, absolutely nothing in place to stop them doing that

It's likely to be a sophisticated touting company doing it so cancelling a membership is just pissing in the wind unfortunately. And because our memberships are unlimited they could immediately buy new ones just using different details.

NUFC have made it a piece of piss for touts to take advantage, our system is wide open for abuse.

My mate got one for PSG after exhausting all options too. Sure it was near £250, and again what looked like a fake name. I encouraged him to report it after using it, but he wouldn’t. Don’t see a problem with it personally, especially when it’s quite clearly a touting operation. The club should be buying a handful for each game and cancelling the accounts so it makes it too much of a risk to do and destroys the model.

They’d need to buy a lot of tickets and do a lot of cancelling to put much of a dent in them when they’re knocking out every ticket for hundreds of pounds.

Took the missus, I normally sit in the milburn paddocks but we got tickets in the ballot for the Leazes right below the Scousers...She said it was the most intense she has ever felt and had heart palpitations and anxiety throughout the game.
