They want him, he's open to the move and seemingly had some talks with them via his agent. They've made no actual bid yet though, but apparently want to move quickly.

I personally don't really think they'll pay what it should take to get him. I think given what other midfielders are going for we need to be looking for at least £90m.

I think he’s class, even if he did straddle the line between shit and an outright liability at times last season.

However, if someone dumps close to £100m at our door we’d be daft to say no. The midfield is unbalanced, we desperately need a proper number 6, I firmly believe Miley is the dog’s bollocks, and if it’s not Sandro who goes it’ll probably be Bruno instead.

Selling to Spurs is a bit of a pisser but at the end of the day, the droopy cunt wants to fuck off and if they're the only ones willing to stump up then so be it. I'm done hoping that we can fend off other clubs for our star players, the reality is that as soon as a players head is turned, they become a shit version of what they were when they were motivated. Good player but comprehensively over-rated. If the club are trying to cash in now at over value I think that's smart, he's looked good for under a third of his time here. 

 

If his attitude is that he wants out as soon as we have a down year then frankly he's a turd given that we all sang his name vociferously and made him feel loved and supported when he literally could not play football for us (while we paid him) by virtue of his own stupid and selfish decisions, and a combination of those decisions and being willing to join Spurs suggests that he's thick as mince. If it's more driven by the club who want to cash in then fair enough.

I genuinely don't rate the guy at this point. To the point I'll be more relieved when he goes.

 

Also will be really interesting to see what he then does elsewhere, as that will give us a better idea of whether he was completely mismanaged here or whether he's just pretty ordinary.

Great post, and not just players losing faith but also fans too.

 

Selling your best players and buying younger players for half the price, whilst going up the the league, has never happened before and never will. You can do it to maintain mid-table status, like Brighton and Bournemouth, but no more.

That was the first chip. The official end of the era. It was inevitable that others would follow. Gordon pretty much downed tools that same summer, save for 10-12 games - now he's gone. Tonali has been more professional but seems like he also wants out.

 

In truth the era ended when Staveley left. The fumes of that regime brought us the League Cup.

 

Maybe with the exception of Bruno, we'll likely sell all the blue chip signings of that era if they continue to perform close to the level.

 

 

Let's see what Newcastle PIF 2.1 can do.

They are proven in the most difficult league in the world. Anderson is a line breaking, progressive passer and Tonali isn't. Anderson is a high value asset against quality low blocks in the division, Tonali isn't + younger + English.
