Tyler Dibling and Chris Rigg should be 2 young players we should be interested in, both in positions we need and would give the current team an injection of youth.

If we can only get one of them make sure it’s Rigg, local lad with his talent would be a game changer for us.

But both of those would surely fall into the Osula category? So would never actually get any game time. We need proven top league (ideally prem) players to move this team forward now.

Why not both and 2 proven players on top?

Like we should be in a position come next summer with these no longer at the club: Burn, Lascelles, Almiron, Wilson. And on top, should be open to Pope, Trippier and Longstaff or Willock going. That’s a lot of wages freed up, and quite a few signings needed, both of young age that’s got resale/longevity, and of players that improve XI, with say Schar / Joelinton becoming good squad depth.

Really really wouldn’t mind Kang-In Lee in January if possible. Not sure how he has done this season but him and his versatility would be great. Can play RW as well as an attacking midfielder. Great technically. Liked him a lot from what I have seen of him before.

Possibly but both top talents and think we need to adjust our transfer strategy due to PSR, if we can only afford one top player each summer we won’t bridge the gap, think we need to sign the best young players and accept the plan might take longer.

They rejected a 70 million euro bid in summer feom a prem club so likely would be 70+ million pound to buy.

He would be immense but we need to buy a few players to strengthen team

There is now way Burn are not getting a new contract.

Why wouldn’t he get a new contract? It’s an absolute no-brainer as his transfer value is close to nothing, low wages, local lad who is a leader and still performing on the pitch.

Edit. Should’ve probably quoted Sibierski.

Because we should be only keeping one of Schar or Burn IMO, and Schar is the better use. Don’t bring in Kelly on £100k+ pw back up to then still keep Burn, just would be strange. I believe we wanted a CB this summer, and then likely one next summer who’s probably of a younger age. Getting none this summer shouldn’t change that requirement/plan next summer.

He’s a great lad, local, and yea would be cheap wages compared to others. But let’s be honest, if we are moving forward as a club, you can’t be having him getting solid minutes next season. And we need to learn to move players on at the right time when opportunity is there.

Not a Dummett or Ritchie scenario with Burn. He’s someone who actually offers a lot. The concern will be how his body holds up as if he loses more pace it’ll be hard for him but he’s a valuable player, for his performances as well as his character

Howe wanted to spend 70m for Guehi and 40 for Elanga. This would have been a disaster for the present and especially for the future. You were very lucky and you must thank Parish. But now keep away Howe from the market.

Thanks Jigen. You going to be staying around these parts when we become CL regulars?

You have the potential (huge fanbase and rich owners) to become a regular CL team. But you need to implement a structure: everyone must have (and respect) his role. So the coach must be the coach and the sporting director must be the sporting director.

Krafth and Targett will go before Burn, and rightly so.

Really warmed to Krafth as time has gone on. Obviously the hope is we improve over time but he’s genuinely let no one down.

Targett goes down as a “what could have been” for me. Looked a lock for the LB slot after his loan but absolutely shot to pieces with injuries. He needs to move on for his own benefit. He’ll also be a NUFC quiz question for being the first player injured by eczema.

We could, I dunno, have a SQUAD of players to choose from.

But why do we need to choose Burn though?

There's post saying he's limited playing out, only going to get slower. So if you are going to evolve the team, what situation next season are you going to be going "Yep, need Burn for this game". Every chance we get the last out of him this season, but it shouldn't cloud the judgement that we need to keep him on say a new 2 year deal.

Add him to the list of

Marcelino with his sore finger

Pistone with his Sheeps heart

Burn is well capable of doing a job as a squad member. Backup CB and emergency LB.

Issue is, we've just given Kelly a long term contract and he seems to be the exact same thing.

Please provide evidence of Howe wanting to spend 40m on Elanga?

Burn is a great squad player to have around. He has his limitations but can do a solid job coming in if get first choice sorted.

Similarly Krafth not let anyone down, puts the effort in and decent squad player. Cost 5 million and covered Right Back and Centre Half and done ok in those roles. Bang average but mostly know what you are getting when he plays
