But why do we need to choose Burn though?

There's post saying he's limited playing out, only going to get slower. So if you are going to evolve the team, what situation next season are you going to be going "Yep, need Burn for this game". Every chance we get the last out of him this season, but it shouldn't cloud the judgement that we need to keep him on say a new 2 year deal.

I would highly doubt he will get much slower before he actually retires, if he gets much slower he will be down to walking football, it's not really a massive concern if his pace goes he doesn't really have any as it is, he has other talents than pace, he is also 32 rather than 42 as seems to be being implied

What he offers in terms of keeping new players linked to the club is probably an intangible that gets massively overlooked, a squad needs to have a bit of personality to it.

Because every now and then you have Wimbledon away in the cup or you have an injury crisis where you need a an old war horse to see you through a game or two.

We are no where near the position to just let go players who are starting for us right now and someone who has been one of our more consistent performers this season.

We all agree that Burn doesn't start if everyone is fit. He's probably 4th choice but even if he's relegated to 6th choice, you keep him.

Because we should be only keeping one of Schar or Burn IMO, and Schar is the better use. Don’t bring in Kelly on £100k+ pw back up to then still keep Burn, just would be strange. I believe we wanted a CB this summer, and then likely one next summer who’s probably of a younger age. Getting none this summer shouldn’t change that requirement/plan next summer.

He’s a great lad, local, and yea would be cheap wages compared to others. But let’s be honest, if we are moving forward as a club, you can’t be having him getting solid minutes next season. And we need to learn to move players on at the right time when opportunity is there.

I guess this would make sense maybe 3 months ago, but it's pretty clear Burn is a level above Kelly. Cutting out the former for the latter, when Burn won't even be demanding high wages, just doesn't make and practical sense.

Hopefully the PSR rules will get amended or dumped sooner rather than later. Then we can keep leadership team players like Burn, Longstaff and Murphy as valuable squad members while still having the ability to sign top class players for the first team.

I agree with this, I'd also have no hesitation in giving Schar another year

Apologies if this players name has been mentioned before, but I've just read the latest rumour of NUFC interested in Bournemouths' Semenyo.

He's certainly an inform player who matches wor Eddie's type of 'winger' , and with Premier League experience, with the one draw back being losing him for a few weeks every 2 years , in the AFCON tournament.

Would still absolutely love Adeyemi, but he's put in some eye catching performances recently which may make him unobtainable.

Adeyemi would be an exciting signing

Just got a feeling he’ll be their new Marco Reus.

This lad got a bit of a write up today in the Guardian's next generation feature

I was going to make a hilarious joke around him travelling to watch Tbilisi play at SJP in the UEFA Cup but I've looked it up and it was before he was born so now I feel old and sad.

Bastion of reliability TalkSPORT claiming Isak is stalling on signing a new contract.

Whether that’s true or not I think Arsenal will go all in for him in next summer
