Possibly would as Tino seems to be good at driving up the pitch and then goes backwards and is reluctant to cross. If we have a creative right winger then that stops playing people out of position on the right and stops Tino having to be that creative force he doesn't appear to be. If we have a valid threat on the right it also means we can fully utilise both wing play and stops us being easy to mark as it wouldn't all be coming from one side. 

 

Obviously asking alot of the right winger but we have been desperate for something different and think that does that. 

 

The short term alternative is Trips comes in for more games which if he does want away then I guess that isn't an option.

Sell to buy is the other line coming out so trips and miggy go there may be some wiggle room for a signing if we don't peddle someone then it's loans/youth or no one.

In reality the way this should work is that they should be identifying positions - CB/RW (likely departures of Wilson/Miggy/Tripps) - scout the players - recommend the CB/RW to Howe from the list - get his viewpoint - then collectively reach a decision - that’s how the sporting model should work - it should continue with or without Howe, so the next manager isn’t saturated with Howe signings (bit like Man U with Ten Haag) - you work with the clubs project

I agree with this but the only aspect I think that is crucial is if Howe prefers player X from the list whilst Mitchell prefers player Y then it should be Howe with that final say and I think that is how it works

 

I just think the suggestion from some that Howe have next to no involvement is absurd and not likely to ever happen, be that with Howe or whoever the next manager is (That's not me wanting Howe out btw, there will at some point be a next manager)

It could be a repeat of this summer then. If Howe gets the sign off, and he decides only a proven player will improve his side, then we don't sign anyone other than another Osula type or young hopeful for the future. Then he'll need to get us to Europe with the players we have.

That’s fair enough and was sort of the point I was trying to make - the club drives the scouting - sit down with Howe and work with him from that list - who is on the list shouldn’t involve Howe but ensure that he gets all the information he needs

Chelsea have alaways operated like that. Managers have input but a lot of the action was dictated by the club/Roman. 
 

Spurs are also largely run like that.  A fair number of signings are happening no matter what. 
 

Similar in Europe. 
 

Thats why owners want coaches like Slot, Maresca And Ange. They’ll use and be happy with the players bought for them.  Someone like Conte only uses who he wants. Liverpool didn’t sign the CM they’ve needed for years, not a peep of discontent in the media from Slot. Their owners are also fairly happy for them to finish level with the investment.

Correct. A giant who can play lcb or rcb and can develop behind Schär. I feel like RW would be a better winter signing than RCB though.  Having more than one option for a transfer and looking beyond the EPL.

Pretty big news has been circulating about Tomori recently. Apparently he's ready to return to the Prem, having fallen out of favour at Milan. They are willing to let him leave in January.

 

The rumoured fee Milan are looking for is shockingly decent at 30 million Euros and his current salary will be easy for us to improve upon at around 80k a week.

It's a good point.

 

We did look at Tosin who is 27 this year too, but he was on a free and that was also prior to Mitchell.

 

I think for the reasonable fee and wages and for his title winning experience in Italy, champions league experience, previous Prem experience and much needed speed in the backline, I would do it personally.

 

Especially because I think he goes straight into the first team to partner Botman, as Schar is starting to drop off and looks more of a backup going forward.
