What do you guys reckon? £60m?

He's pure PSR profit so that should be taken into account on the fee. Should offer them £40-45m to tempt them initially. They know they could do a lot with that.

Nothing exciting in the athletic this morning. Two premier league sides monitoring the Kelly situation, Everton hold long term interest in Longstaff and Leeds interested in Targett.

I keep forgetting Matt Targett is a Newcastle player. Howay Leeds do us a favour.

We are currently at 68% in squad cost to revenue currently, if we qualify for Europe need to be at 70% for new rules from next season.

We need to remove players from the wage bill to make room.

Fabulous.

I think the only way the penny will drop for the PL is if they start losing players to other leagues because no one in England can afford them.

There again, the cartel clubs will probably figure it's worth going through some short term pain for long term gain.

Anyone know how we could afford to spent £89m on Guehi in the summer but now we've got nowt to spend? Makes no sense to me.

Nothing personal, obviously, but I fucking hate this question. It's all I see in every comment or tweet or whatever. It's a daft question.

The answer is the simple and obvious one, we would have had to dump someone that the fans may not appreciate getting sold. They are not going to say that without gain so they keep their mouth shut.

For whatever reason their calculation was that it would be worth it for him (I don't agree). And the lack of movement is that they are not seeing the same value in any transfer available.

It's really not that hard. The club has a specific value profile that they feel would be worth shuffling assets for. Absent that, they will not move.

Personally I'm not really bothered by the lack of transfers. Wish there were some fresh additions and the summer window was frustrating, but I didn't expect anything in January. I think we have what it takes to get Europe, probably cl, this year.

Heard the only thing stopping us signing Saka is Mitchell's refusal to do so? Any truth in this?

Heard the same thing. Mitchell is apparently hell bent on Tranquillo Barnetta.

Aye he gets a % of every player sold and a % for every player not bought.

I was also on the windup simply trying to keep the PSR debate going. Nothing more nothing less.

Mangala of Everton is out injured , could be lenghty absence.  Hopefully Everton follow up their interest in Longstaff now

homegrown quota though.

I've said something similar before but we are going to need a larger squad next year if we get europe.  Not sure how clearing out all of our squad players helps with that.

Should we really be clearing out the likes of Targett, Kelly and Longstaff? Unless we're brining in direct replacements who improve on these, we need these squad players for cover and early round cup games. It's not like our squad is well padded out.

Id keep Targett currently as backup LB. If they got a proper offer for Kelly this window I think they let him go. We have 2 left sided CBs and Krafth can fill in at right CB.

Doesn’t the 3 year (105m limit) finish this June or whatever? From my understanding we should have a lot more room for spending in the summer.

I thought any additional spending risks breaching the new 70% squad cost rule? So incomings must be funded by outgoings until we grow revenue.

Deloitte's have us estimated at 68% wages to revenue currently, new scheme caps (if we qualify for Europe) at 70% but has to include amortisation costs and agent fees minus allowables & player sales.  Unless we get another significant jump in our revenue we could be worse off under the new scheme
