NUFC Transfer Rumours

Recommended Posts

Is Delap a straight up striker or can he play across the front line? If he's just a striker I'd be surprised if he went anywhere to be a backup. Probably be a starter at Manure the way things are going there so can see why that would be more appealing to him.

Delap - £30m

Huijsen - £50m

Dibling - £40m

Trafford - £30m

Not sure if you could get the bottom two at those process but for £150m to get four young players who would improve us instantly and (should) continue to improve would be a great window. That's if we have £150m to spend if we get top 5.

Delap feels way more Howe than Cunha for multiple reasons

This.

One thing Man United can offer him currently is a starting place. He’s miles better than Hojlund or Zirkzee. Same can’t be said of Isak. There isn’t a striker in world football supplanting him at the moment. He’d join as an understudy. Let’s not be silly either - Manure will offer him astronomical wages too.

We all know which club is in better order but for an up and coming striker looking for minutes and exposure - they tick more boxes than we do currently.

They’d ruin him.

£30m Delap > free DCL that's for sure

So in theory we could we see a front 6 of Isak, Delap, Barnes, Gordon, Murphy, new RW

With Wilson leaving and Osula on loan?

I'd take that, especially if the RW was an Mbuemo level one

Makes the Cunha link recently seem a bit weird, I can't imagine a world where we'd sign a £60m attacking midfielder and want both a CF and RW as well, would cost a bomb

On the flip side Man U regularly destroys careers, Brexit Jim may not be offering the ludicrous wages of old and Eddie might be able to get them both in the starting line up, at least sometimes. Isak cannot play every game and we need the second choice striker to be the very best quality we can find.

It’s like right now Barnes is showing his worth, we need 2 quality players in every position and 30m is a snip.

There should be no chance of Wilson staying. He's of no use now.

Neither was Ritchie or Dummet. Howe keeps people around for their personalities. Whether Wilson would be content with that is another matter.

I'd like to think there's a good chance someone like Delap sees that moving to Man United has a huge number of drawbacks. Yes he'd be second fiddle to Isak, but at a far healthier club, and he'd play a crap ton of games with Europe etc.

He's also one Isak injury or an Isak sale (not impossible if Real or someone come in with 150m plus) from being our permanent lead striker.

Also surely we won't be daft enough to hang on to Wilson. It's high time we made some intelligent and bold decisions with regards to moving players on.

I'm excited but nervous about the summer. Here's hoping it's a good one.

I'm actually sick of seeing his grinning face [emoji38] He's been great for us, but isn't any longer. Needs to be gone. Offers fook all atm.

Delap under Eddie Howe's guidance. Playing at St James'. The chance to make the iconic No9 shirt his own. What's not to love?

We need to stop this now. Be ruthless and get rid of those who aren't good enough.

Delap was born in Winchester, Hampshire. (From Wiki).

Aye, when his dad was at Southampton. Not sure where they would have lived when he was at Stoke?

Came through Derby's academy for 10 years, then onto City.

So no links to Man U and they're about as bad as it's possible to be these days. He'd be mad to go there, mad I tell ya.

Watch it happen.

If he chose them over us ,they're welcome to him. Proper basket case club atm and will be for some time.

Think Delap ends up at Man United, they will be able to offer him more money than us and a guaranteed starting place. He would just be backup to Isak here.

Can they afford to carry Zirkzee and Hojlund as well as sign Cunha and Delap?

This is excellent, a la Hall and Tino type signings.
Wouldn't mind adding a Cherki to that.

We would still need at least one purple to really galvanise the squad for CL and potential title push.

Possibly the Mbuemo type - so we also have that cover at RW and upfront if required.
Or at CAM - to give us something different if we come up against a low block.

Can't expect youngsters who will take time to learn Howe's system to come in and make a change immediately.

those signings would be great, even without "a purple".  especially IF we do business early in the window and get them in ready to start pre season from day one, that would help getting them into the system and frame of mind a lot quicker, hopefully we dont spend the first month or so trying to get rid of dead wood THEN make some signings after pre season starts. we may then miss out on targets or they may come in too close to season starting and needing that time to adapt.
