One good thing we are doing is trying to keep our options open and take advantage of free transfers, release clauses and FFP swipes from other clubs.  
 

That might mean getting players we don’t 100% need so be it.  
 

I don’t love Angel Gomes for our system.  But if getting him for free means we can spend big money on another CM, sell Longstaff and Willock - great.  Let’s do it.  I don’t see where Cunha fits but if we can get him for £50m let’s do it.

Call me overly simplistic but I really think we'll have the budget to strengthen as we need to, if we're savvy and don't just chase Crystal Palace defenders for 3 months.

 

A few purples, a few bench/rotation quality players, offset by a few semi decent sales. I really don't think we should expect/achieve less than that. Free agents should be looked at especially.

If/when we get CL I’m really interested to see what we can do commercially to get our revenue up even more. If it happens then we’ve been in the CL 2/3 seasons  as well as won a title. Surely even FMV sponsorships should be allowed to get a bit higher as we are on the up. Perhaps we’ve been waiting to make new deals until we know the competitions we are in.

Vlahovic to Arsenal that January a few years back was a tortuous saga, a sure illustration that mouse clicks can't make a transfer come true. Though clever of Vlahovic to skip the whole going to Arsenal stage of revealing himself to not be a very good striker.

 

I'd say he has the game to do well in the PL and would be a good case of buying when the stock is low but Juve at that time were fairly spendthrift so can only imagine he's on a big wedge which would rule him out. Feels like a Chelsea signing but then what signing doesn't

Does anyone know what's happened to Nickson? He was deeply involved before Mitchell came, rarely hear of him now days

Trafford is a no brainer for me. Should have got him last summer but IMO we can't afford to miss out on him. Pope is fine and maybe he could go another season as first choice but I think we'd hugely regret not getting Trafford while we can.

 

He'll be the best keeper in the Premier League in two/three years time.

He’s still basically ‘cheif scout’. Mitchell being around probably takes away the need to use his name to fill column inches though.

Dusan would be an opportunistic move at low transfer cost (high wages) with a clear intention IMO that he will be sold in 12 months.

Delap would be a great signing and seems like a great addition to the dressing room, where thats not known with Sesko. Its Sesko at 60mil that would get me interested, if he played that well in the prem he's a 120mil player.

It's mindblowing to me that people think we should sign a CM over a GK! 

Pope can go down as a legend for the club for what he's done, but I guarantee no top 6 clubs in the Premier League would want to take him, you can probably go as far as to say top 10, maybe even top 15. Some people massively underestimate the power of an elite GK, it's essential we upgrade our GK in the Summer.

Just the Italian press thirsting for Tonali and using Vlahovic as bait, thinking we’re not worthy of such a player and that “he’s Italian so must hate Newcastle and dream of returning home asap because he was forced here against his will”. They’re like the ex who thinks you still want them back and you never actually even think about them.
