Maybe the big deals are already all but done 🤷🏻‍♂️

Transfer windows rule no 1: Never let on to anyone outside of the club that your club is flush with money to spend on players. That's just a complete no-brainer.

It all starts with a great goalkeeper. Without one, the defence are less confident "I better not fuck up because i don't trust our keeper" and it seeps throughout the team. A really good keeper is essential. I'm still reasonably happy with Pope but if we can get Trafford or someone equally good or better for 20-30 million I'll be happier. Pope would be an excellent 2nd choice.

I'm not suggesting it's not important. It's super important! It's just not exciting.

Haten Ben Arfa was exciting, Isak was exciting, Tonali was exciting, Arda Guler would be exciting. Goalies? Meh

"The information that comes to me is quite reliable by the source, if not, I wouldn't get so wet," he made it clear in La Grada Ràdio, aware of the impact of talking about a Primera player and not about his usual habitat. "I don't know if it's signed or pending signature, but everything is very well organised," he added.

Ángel explained that he has been in contact with people who manage direct information from the Premier League, and "no matter how much they talked about Arsenal and the Top 6, they told me that there he was not going to sign as a starter." And with a clear phrase he positioned himself: "You go to Newcastle on an equal footing with other goalkeepers, not like in other Top 6 clubs where you started with the vitola of being a substitute."

Among the options that have sounded was also the Aston Villa, "if he let out the Dibu," but it was Newcastle who took advantage. Even with PSG peeking at the last moment, according to the journalist: "I have asked people close to Joan himself and they told me that, despite PSG's intrusion, I was going to go to England. And after consulting it I got wet with that authority.”

Arsenal fans have been thirsting over Garcia for a while.

Buy him and not play him just to piss them off.

Can’t remember who, but I’m sure it went in the Twitter bollocks thread, or didn’t even get flagged up until others had broke it a few days later.

If anyone’s bored they can have a search about.

I'm sure it was a small local paper that broke the Isak transfer.  Before any of the big boys or tap in merchants got hold of the story.

Yep.  I'm sure all these multi-million or billion pound clubs don't have armies of accountants and analysts that look into this kind of thing.  But they just wait for Howe to say we're free from a bit of PSR bother now, so that they can add another £10m on the fee.

If he'd kept his mouth shut.  We would have got some right bargains.

Howe out.

Prior to the window "slamming open", can we all sort the most prominent journos into reliability tiers? For example:

Tier 1 (Take it as gospel): Ornstien

Tier 2 (Rarely misses): Romano

Tier 3 (Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit): Hope, Waugh

Tier 4 (Don't get your hopes up): Edwards

Tier 5 (Burnsie): Burnsie

Tier 6 (WUM, still more reliable than Burnsie): Frank Chippa

I really like Gittens, he's tall, has explosive pace and loads of potential.

He's more technical than Mbuemo but I'd say he's more of a risk coming from the Bundesliga.

I trust in Eddie whichever way we go.

True. I think Edwards (or one of the other local journos) had mentioned him previously, but it was a Spanish (or Swedish) guy who first said “it’s on”.

Aye, was the local Tier 1 journo for San Sebastian at one of their regional papers who broke the actual transfer news, although I think confirmation from The Athletic and similar came within a couple of hours.
