NUFC Transfer Rumours

The first we'll hear of an actual transfer is when they are on the plane to sign

That doesn’t even happen with obscure youth signings . Hate this myth that all of our transfers came out of the blue.

who were you expecting?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just don’t think Mbeumo specifically is all he’s cracked up to be and is at his absolute peak (ability and also $$) and will represent diminishing returns quickly. I want someone that next level above him.

If Eddie and co end up actually wanting him though I hope he comes here and tears the league apart from our right flank.

Good finishers and consistent goalscorers like Isak, Haaland, Mbappe etc. all tend to score pretty much in line with what's expected or just over.

Isak had a poor season (21/22) the year before we bought him. I thought we paid too much because of that.

Newcastle is the best positioned, the family is looking for a house.

You would think if there is any truth it’s a relatively simple deal. The release clause is low, I’m still very sceptical there is much truth in this tbh.

Same thing gets said every window, I don’t think any of our transfers have been like that. Maybe Tonali the exception.

The best counterpoint to this is that Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez off the back of one season where he scored 32 from 21.5xG for Benfica. He's not a good finisher to say the least! Good finishers and consistent goalscorers like Isak, Haaland, Mbappe etc. all tend to score pretty much in line with what's expected or just over.

Just think we'd be paying a peak/inflated price for him because he's had a statistically amazing season.

Same way it works with Schar. Burn or Botman do the difficult aerial duels and Guehi/Schar only get involved when they know they can win.

Fabi's personal aerial statistics massively improved when he started getting partnered by Burn/Botman because he's allowed to pick his battles more. Before that they were really poor.

I cant see the logic in that good finishers only scores what's in line with their XG. Thats not a good finisher to me(atleast not consistant), but average.

Doubt that Solskjær or Shearer just scored what was expected.

But i wouldn't expect Mbeumo to replicate his level of overperformance from this season. He wouldn't need to to justify a 50-60m price tag. Getting 20+ non-penalty goals+assist is quite rare. He is also very hard working, reliable and one of the fastest player in the league(exciting!).

For us he also fills two roles, being a backup to Isak and competition for Murphy. How much would we else have to pay to get a decent backup to Isak? We really need one considering his recurring groin injuries.

Still need agreement from the player. Speaking of which...

The feeling within the club is that Joan García will not join Barça, this feeling has been reinforced in recent hours! The goalkeeper has already made his decision, he should make it known before the end of the week

I'll start running the tub.

As soon as "house hunting" is mentioned, I call bullshit.

A modern footballer isn't looking for houses prior to signing, not like back in the day.

You sign for a club and someone else does all that stuff for the player afterwards. Alot of players stay in a hotel for the first few weeks regardless.

Besides which, he can look for houses all he wants, with the solicitors in this country he'd be lucky to get the keys before the end of his six year deal.

Room for two? My bathroom’s still flooded and I’ve been told in no uncertain times by my wife that I’m a disgrace

Putting my captain positive head on.... perhaps this is one of Eddie's targets after all.

Has anyone local mentioned this guy because by now they would have been calls in to find out what's going on?

It’s also the middle of summer. I’d assume he just signs a contract and stays in Spain for a bit or on a beach somewhere tropical. He’s not coming straight to Newcastle to find a place.

Waugh (so not exactly reliable), played it down last week.

I don't think it's a myth- rarely have we been linked to a player in the press before we put a bid in for them.

Maybe we need a Transfer Hot Tub then we can just leave it on and jump in when we are transferring.

In this case it’s true though.

Someone by the username Garcia1 was on the Newcastle reddit earlier asking what Fenham is like.

Apparently he’s new to the area due to a change in location for work, and it’s close to where his new job is.

Seems to think he’s found himself a right little bargain.

I think there may be something in it simply because a couple of unknown journalists, close to Espsnyol have reported it so aggressively. If it was agent mischief, they'd have gone to the nationals (who've been reporting he's off to Barca), like with Big Mama.
