I loved a bit of Kevin Nolan, hence the name on here.

 

Was a carthorse like but he was a positive person to have around and played a huge role on the pitch too. A poundland Lampard in the sense that he had the nack of scoring goals.

This is the correct answer. A month is a lot of time and we probably still salvage this by getting some bodies in, but we already know the process was bad. If we panic-spend in August to save face and rid ourselves of the PSR headroom burning a hole in our pocket, that could cause its own problems down the road.

exactly. In my view, the club has both handled this window poorly, and is being utterly fucked by the cartel. And we the unfortunate supporters are having to witness it. Happy clappers, bed wetters, and everyone in between.

Nolan was essentially holding the entire squad together that one season on and off the pitch. He was a great servant to the club for the short time he was here.

Thats an terrible argument, you've mentioned players we signed 15 years ago, non of which are anywhere near the quality we are after now.

 

There's been minimal risk in the players we have gone after, right since the takeover. Thats the strategy. Its nothing to do with where they are based. It just so happens that the most risk free players are domestic and thats because we know how they will cope with the PL.

 

Our targets are fine. Our strategy has been god awful.

Nobody on here is without a healthy dose of scepticism when it comes down to what's reported in the papers or on twitter but that's all any of us have to go on, including you.

 

You cant say we dont look abroad when we are reportedly looking abroad and have signed from abroad.

I entirely agree with this.... but be honest, do you honestly they will get all of that done?

I think everyone would be a lot more chill about there being a month left if our first two games weren't Villa away and Liverpool. 

 

It's fair to say we're fine and have plenty of time, but also should be recognized that it wouldn't take much for us to be looking very light through the spine of the team.

I think we'll get bodies in by the end of the window. If we materially lower our standards it's not hard to go out and sign squad players.

 

The mistake we're more likely to make IMO is making desperation signings and  saddling ourselves with players that we'll struggle to offload when we no longer need them.

talk about changing the goalposts. What you are tacitly saying is that you believe what you want to believe, so any reported bids for, say, a Slovenian player at Leipzeg, is all media nonsense. We only go for domestic players.

 

I've demonstrated my skepticism about most UK and Europe sports journalism over and over, but no one (as far as i know) is denying that bids for Sesko and Ekitike were lodged.
