Needs must at the moment

Don’t see it personally but we’ll find out in a week. Wouldn’t bank on more than one forward to replace Wilson.

When was the last time we signed a first-team player on summer deadline day? Wondering if it'll go to the wire for a striker & other than loaning out youth players I can't recall any business being done by us on the last day ever

Over the last month or so, I have been confident we will get atleast one striker in and then somehow slowly bring Isak back into the fold.

im slowly losing that confidence and starting to worry we won’t bring anyone in

would have thought there’d be some half decent rumours or something this weekend but from what I could see it’s been silent (although that’s sometimes good for us over the years)

Yes, Newcastle United has a history of signing players on transfer deadline day. The club has secured several key acquisitions in the final hours of both the summer and winter transfer windows over the years.
Some of the notable deadline day signings for NUFC include:
 * Miguel Almirón: The Paraguayan playmaker was a significant deadline day arrival in January 2019 from Atlanta United.
 * Joe Willock: After a successful loan spell, Willock's permanent move from Arsenal was confirmed on deadline day in the summer of 2021.
 * Andy Carroll: The striker made a romantic return to his boyhood club on deadline day in the summer of 2019.
 * Martin Dúbravka: The goalkeeper's initial loan move from Sparta Prague in January 2018 was a deadline day deal, which was later made permanent.
 * Santiago Muñoz: The young Mexican forward was signed on deadline day in the summer of 2021.
 * Antonio Barreca: The left-back joined on a deadline day loan from Monaco in January 2019.
These instances demonstrate that Newcastle United has utilized the final day of the transfer window to bolster their squad on multiple occasions.

Probably mentioned already but Sørloth for the rumored £30m~ is about the best business we could do. Obviously depends on if we get the NUFC-tax, then that rumor might be bullshit.

Sure he's not PL-proven and he's 29 years old, but he banged in 19 non-penalty goals last season and 23 the season prior. At least he is a comparatively good option if Wissa has fallen through. Here's Sørloth's fbref report:

The club won’t panic buy. Whoever we get if anyone will be well scouted.

If I was asked to join the dots then Wissa would be our first choice. After that then if Jackson deal becomes reasonable very late in the window then they’ll pivot to him IMO. Obviously won’t go for both due to ACON.

Proven failure in the Premier League with Palace albeit lots of reports that his game is much better now.

Aye, but that was best part of a decade ago. He's certainly improved a lot since then.

I still think Wissa is a better option stylistically but with only a week to go, I think we need to ascribe to not letting perfect be the enemy of the good.

Obviously, we'll never replace Isak and that's why he's worth what he is, but we need strikers and he's a good option (IMO).

I agree with most of this - but the Palace failure is still a concern.
