Yeah i think the reaction to all of our summer signings were of excitement except for Thiaw for some reason

What was Forest's reaction to losing Elanga? Were they disappointed or delighted with the £55m?

Both. I posted loads of quotes from their fans a few months back where a lot thought we’d been absolutely robbed

I think they were pretty disappointed to lose him to be honest

If you read their forums from about 6 months before we signed him, a lot were talking about how teams had figured him out

Watch the ball get played to his feet and nick it off him when it bounces off. Even i figured that out (after we'd signed him sadly)

TBF I didn't complain about any of our transfers last summer, I thought we had a competitive squad with lots of options and the chance to change our style/formation if required.

I didnt expect Eddie to bottle it and stick to his tried and tested.

Talk me through who we signed, other than Woltemade, that suggested we were changing our style…

Thaiw change to a back three with wing backs.

Elanga 442 with wide fast wingers.

Woltemade and Wissa, big man and poacher type formation.

Just a few and just my opinion but we'll never know.

4-4-2 in 2026? I mean I’d be interested….

"Sandro Tonali, I think there's a feeling from somewhere around Newcastle that he probably will go."

Is the feeling coming from Morpeth?

Jan Ziółkowski is likely to leave AS Roma in the summer transfer window. According to Italian media reports, AS Roma expects around 20 million euros for Jan Ziółkowski, while Checco Oddo Casano reported that the club would like to receive 20-25 million euros for selling him. In an interview with Goal.pl, Federico Liuti from Forzaroma.info commented that 20 million euros is a reasonable price for Ziółkowski, especially in the Premier League, where Newcastle United is interested in him. Liuti added that if a satisfactory offer appears, Ziółkowski will leave AS Roma in the summer. He also stated that Roma must sell someone to raise funds before June 30, and with a good offer, Ziółkowski will be one of the players to depart.

I'm just going to go ahead and assume that Tonali and Gordon are out the door. Just the way that they've been playing this season gives me a sense that the relationship has run its course.

It's a shame because they were both incredible players when applying themselves 100%, but based on this season alone it would not be difficult for us to replace their performance levels with younger, hungrier players.

Maybe Livramento too but I suspect his injury record will scare off the big clubs.

I don’t see why they should both be allowed to leave.

IF they are looking elsewhere then I do. If you are not 100% committed to the club, the shirt, the fans etc then off you pop. We need to be 100% United going forward into next season.

Yeah. You can’t keep losing your better players every window and realistically expect to push on. I get that, unfortunately, in some cases we might not have a choice though.

They look unmotivated and stuck in a rut and I imagine that's not getting any better next year with no European football. Just seems like the logical time to pivot. Get a big fee, bring in younger players who are hungry to improve.

Interesting bit from the Athletic article a couple of days ago, regarding a striker.

Whether Nick Woltemade and/or Yoane Wissa remain on Tyneside is still to be determined — as things stand, sources have told The Athletic that Will Osula is actually the most likely of the three strikers to stay beyond the summer — yet, regardless of the fate of that pair who cost a combined £119million ($161.4m) in August, Howe wants to sign another centre-forward who can press and is a penalty-box finisher. The striker market is hardly booming right now, however, and Newcastle are likely to sign a player with promise, rather than a proven marksman.

If all three strikers stay and another is still looking to be added, then I think we're going to see some players used in other positions, and another setup introduced that the team can play in more often.

Wissa will probably play more on the left, especially if Gordon leaves, and Woltemade used as more of a support striker with a partner ahead of him, when he's in the team.

I don’t know, if Spurs willing to let him go at a cut price deal like 25/30m, I genuinely think the club will go ahead since he fits in that criteria. That article simply means we have no choice at the moment and need to go for “promising” youngsters.
