NUFC Transfer Rumours

Stacked with quantity, I am not convinced it is stacked with quality and felt this way all season long. Or at the very least we haven't found the right mix which makes them effective as a unit.

I agree we havent found the right balance/mix and if we persist with 3 in midfield we may already have enough with a reduced number of games and only Willock going.

The fact we seem linked to midfielders likely means we are looking to at least get 1 in it may be the case we go for a dedicated DM which then allows Tonali and Bruno to go to a 6 but also move further up, how we are going to use Ramsey and Miley more and where they play to be the most effective along with how often big joe who is 30 in August is going to be available.

Couple of seasons ago I would have been upset breaking up the middle but its been a stuttering season and clearly we need to evolve to get more goals out of midfield and be more robust defensively I am not sure how possible that is with just a tweak to system.

I think it all depends on what system they plan to go with, 4-2-3-1 changes quite a lot but only Howe can answer that question. Assuming it is though I would think they would want at the very least to get another option in the "2" the fact Willock came on at the weekend is probably not a great sign and considering Gordon is likely leaving and the right sided options have stunk the place up you would probably look at 1-2 more options in the "3".

The issue you have even if we do shift system if we don't get the value we want from a player sale or get an offer we will take then its about repurposing the personnel we have rather than going out to buy it which is why big changes may not be possible. A Tonali sale may run the risk of weakening us but would allow the funds to make bigger waves in the market if we wanted. Where was 10/12/15m for Willock gets you a raw talent from Europe to take a gamble on either offering us something different or the possibility of improving us not guaranteeing it.

But like you say will all depend who goes and stays and what system change they are thinking if any to adopt.

If we lose the three big players that most seem to think will be going alongside all the other smaller sales and contracts ending were going to have a massive transfer/wage budget right?

Gordon ~65m?

Livramento ~60m?

Tonali ~75-85m?

Willock ~10-15m?

- Trippier, Krafth, Ramsdale wages

Potentially Wissa as well. Might be missing some others.

With how much work we need to do £200m in sales like this will be a big help.

Cant see all three of those being sold but two of them for sure so still a big pot.

Newcastle are interested in Botafogo midfielder Danilo. Botafogo are looking for a €40 million offer. The midfielder is also a target for Palmeiras, Manchester United, and Flamengo. ESPN

Newcastle

Internally, there are discussions about making a move to acquire Danilo from  Botafogo ., and a target for clubs like  Manchester UnitedPalmeiras  and  FlamengoThe information was obtained by  ESPN  this Wednesday (20).

There has been no specific move yet on the part of the Magpies to acquire the Brazilian national team midfielder.

The report revealed that the decision to move forward with negotiations will be made by coach Eddie Howe after evaluating the squad at the end of the current season.

The coach knows and likes the Botafogo player. However, a multi-million dollar offer would need to make sense for Newcastle, who are still considering the possibility of making a move for that position, for example, if they were to lose a player in that position to the international market.

Reckon we’ve got a summer ahead of us that’s heavy on links, heavy on signings, heavy on smokescreens, heavy on incomings and heavy on outgoings

Is this the kid who is in the Brazil squad for the World Cup? Ready made partnership with Bruno, I suppose

Also Ross Wilson signed him for Forest so he also clearly likes the player too

Forest fan I work with says he’s excellent, got injured early on last season and ended up being sold due to the turnover of players there each window. Said he’s got a lot of quality and a hard worker.

Remember liking him a lot but it’s pretty vague memories at this point.

Should be pretty enjoyable, I think the big outgoings are fairly expected so shouldn’t cause too much stress. Do hope we keep Tonali though.

Yeah, I remember he had a horror injury at the start that pretty much kept him out for the whole season.

Looks like he's fully recovered now and has had a very good run back in Brazil.

Could also be advantageous if there's a relationship there already.

Should be fun to follow at least, there were points last summer where we had none of that and the vibe in here was like Mel Brooks Slapstick GIF by IFC

Last summer was getting knocked back by every club/player going and not knowing if Isak was coming/going on the daily.

The bar is that low it literally has to be better this summer [emoji38]

Likewise, all the right noises being made lets hope it gets backed up with action.

Do you think we'll make any moves in or out pre world cup?

I don’t know, I’d like to think so but I generally never expect any transfers to be done quickly. Would like Gordon sold early if it’s basically already done.

We can crack on with signing people if they're not playing at the world cup.

Yea it’s like this

1. Before May / June - NO all agreed that we have to wrap up some deals for the positions that need strengthening ASAP

2. Nth happened till August

3. People start questioning the club and the manager and some will jump out and say “you are just naive to think we can get deals done early, it really depends on the seller, out of control, not our fault etc”

4. End up settling for 4/5th choices with staggering price

“that’s the cost we have to pay, we do not have bargain power etc”

And the worst thing is no one needs to be accountable for this
