A reminder that this squad is easily the strongest for 20 years. And is genuinely better than last year as Tonali hopefully has stayed out of Ladbrokes and a load of players have improved in the last 12 months, plus some squad defects have been sorted.

Gallagher isn't joining  to be a squad player man.

 

There's a reason the likes of Atletico, Villa and Spurs have looked at him and not Longstaff.

 

He is a much better player than Longstaff.

Yeah obviously not, why are you assuming he'd be a squad player here? You think Joelinton, Bruno and Tonali play 100% of games this season, because they wont. Longstaff will play 35 games this season atleast, just like he as in the last two seasons. That's not a squad player role

It is a squad player role.

 

He will not join to play that role. The salary he would demand wouldn't even allow it to make sense.

I’m sure Gallagher doesn’t look at either Joelinton or Tonali and think to himself that he has no chance of getting in the team in front of them.

Tonali is an unknown quantity at this point, Gallagher isn’t. Just to make the point.. but I know what you’re saying.

 

I’ll never understand the under rating of Gallagher on here (not saying you do), he is a quality and very intelligent midfielder. He’d be incredible in our press.

Atletico were ready to pay him around £200,000 a week for goodness sake.
